Baseball will not have a strike...now what? Can baseball market itself as a product that people want to buy? To me baseball is a lot like WCW in it's dying days, they really don't seem to be in touch with the rest of the world. Baseball doesn't seem to know what the people want. They probably think they do, but they clearly do not.
Why don't they market themselves and their stars like the NBA does. Most of the American population knows who Kobe Bryant, Shaq, and Allen Iverson are. Not only that they are probably well known globaly as well. I doubt Alex Rodrigez, Barry Bonds, Randy Johnson and Alfonso Soriano are no where near that level of recognition.
Now that there is going to be no strike baseball has to join the rest of the world in the new century. Promote their stars and their product, not bash the shit out of it. Think they can do it?
It should be easy for baseball to promote itself. The problem is the owners belief that if the players are promoted, they will be paid more. Thus, instead of increasing revenue through promoting players, they tear down players in order to prevent pay increases. As always, another successful strategy by the people who gave us Proud to Be Your Bud as Commissioner.
Thank you Mr. Wanz for the check, now you get an AWA World Title Reign. But be careful, my boy Greg is a heat machine.
