Well everyone said it would take a billionaire's budget to compete with Vince... Looks like Hogan may have found a willing billionaire to invest...

Here's the story...

"In an interesting story, there are rumors that Hulk Hogan and Jimmy Hart have been shopping the idea of the XWF to new investors with the hopes of getting the startup rolling again.

The primary target thusfar has reportedly been Mark Cuban, the energetic owner of the NBA's Dallas Mavericks.

In addition to possibly running the promotion as a straight wrestling promotion with Hulk Hogan as the initial draw, Hart had a couple other ideas as well. One idea was to run a largely Hispanic crew of wrestlers in a lucha style promotion based out of the Southwest, and another idea was to mimic the Ultimo Dragon's Toureyman Japanese promotion which showcased handsome wrestlers to grab a female audience."

That female audience idea is the stupidest I've ever heard. They would probably sign the likes of Buff Bagwell.

I think this idea has already been TRIED with Bischoff at the Helm. Oh, yes, the Internet fans are drooling in anticipation for the return of... RINGRATS!

I think you mean Matrats. Though I have to say a reality show "Ringrats!" could be kind of amusing in a "Hookers on the Point" sort of way.

Oh, well, I can check off "make an ass of yourself" on the daily to-do list.

Honestly, the ghost of Missy Hyatte was floating around in my head when I typed that.

I have a feeling that this is one of those rumors that never gets off the ground.

I wonder what Kenny Bolin, "Prototype" John Cena and the rest of the Bolin Services crew think of all of this. I thought he was THEIR financial backer. ;-)

Seriously, Cuban did a skit with Cena and Bolin in OVW where Cuban said he was interested in doing business with Kenny Bolin (one of the heel managers in OVW), and Bolin dropped Cuban's name for MONTHS afterwards.

I can't see anyone investing enough money in a wrestling company to compete with Vince with business being as bad as it has been. When the WWE starts bringing in buckets of money again, then these rumors would seem more founded.

If Cuban and Hogan decide to go with a start up, they need an established name to carry the promotion, and right now they're all under Vince's thumb (and no, putting Hogan in the main-event is not any kind of long term plan to build on.)

But Mark Cuban would be perfect for this. An insane egomaniac man with lots of money, he'll fit in perfectly with other major wrestling owners ie Ted Turner.

If Mark Cuban were to play an active part in the XWF, I would do anything necessary to watch it every week. I can't stand professional basketball, but I still follow whatever Cuban is doing. He's just that damn entertaining.

Yeah, that's a great investment... The XWF, yesterday's stars tomorrow (even dead ones). Poor Mark Cuban could probably stuff his money under a mattress and he'd get a better return for his capital.

Funny, Hogan was saying the same thing right up until leisure suiting back into WWE...that he'd make a new promotion, uh, and didn't the XWF already implode, because Kevin Sullivan was fighting with Jimmy Hart?

I get to watch the eppies about 2 weeks after they originally air, and I read the results because I just cannot wait that long. Does it decrease the enjoyment I have? I think it actually increases it.
