I've got the game at last, but have to wait until I'm off work (10 p.m. tonight!) to play it. Has anyone tried it out yet?

I change the channel every time the commercial comes on because the whole concept reeks so badly. I'll bet it was taken from ideas the WCW booking committee was formulating before its demise.

Without trying to be funny, and without lingering on how horrible the commercial was... it's a run-and-explore Mario game. Isn't that generally sufficient information for most gamers to know whether they'll like it or not?

I like the looks of it.

Add that to Phantasy Star Online 1 & 2, Clone Wars, Sonic Compilation, and Skies of Arcadia Legend for good reasons to own a 'Cube.

I played it for about half an hour the day we got it where I work, and I have to say it kicks the shit out of Mario 64. I liked it, it's fun. You run around and clean paint while chasing the eeeeeeeeeeevil painter guy who looks just like mario, and like, yeah, and your happy squirting thingy pack thing can act like a badass jet pack, and you can hover around squirting water on the ground.

In short, it rocks.

I think there's been a Mario game for every Nintendo system since the original Nintendo.

Mario's still going strong.

Not to mention Metroid Prime, Animal Crossing, The Legend of Zelda, Super Smash Brothers Melee, Pikmin, Super Monkey Ball 1 and 2, Rouge Leader, Star Fox Adventures, Perfect Dark Zero, Eternal Darkness, Resident Evil and an eventual Super Mario Kart sequel. They told me I was crazy to remain a Nintendo loyalist. WELL, WHO'S CRAZY NOW?!?! Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha!!!

Hey Yo...

Zelda's graphics look just plain weird. But, supposedly they really grow on you and the pictures don't do the game justice. The only one I'm really looking forward to is Zelda. I almost wish I hadn't bought a Gamecube (for JUST Wrestlemania X-8, boy that was smart).

I AM looking forward to Smackdown and Grand Theft Auto Vice City, for PS2, though.

Well, I was never a Nintendo guy, so when I think "Gamecube", the games that come to mind which I would definitely buy one for are largely 3rd party stuff from Sega. I'll get to the other titles later.

Blast, I need a GBA for Phantasy Star Collection, too.

I would rank this Mario game pretty high on the addictiveness scale. I've somehow wasted hours at a time so far just running around spraying my water cannon while only completing 3 actual levels. Now that is the sign of a good game! I can find myself doing random things that have nothing to do with the actual story and still waste that much time. God bless Nintendo.

Apparently you are. Seriously, I've been annoyed at how lacking in good games the Gamecube has been. Hopefully it'll get better, otherwise I bought a very expensive purple paperweight.

Let's see. As far as the US goes:

PSO: Not out yet.
Star Wars - The Clone Wars: Not out yet.
Sonic Compilation: Not out yet.
Skies of Arcadia Legend: Not out yet.
Metroid Prime: Not out yet.
Animal Crossing: Not out yet.
Zelda: Not out yet.
Starfox Adventures: Not out yet.
Perfect Dark 2: Not out yet.
Assorted Resident Evil sequels/ports: Only the first one is out.
SMKart Sequel: Not out yet.

Which leaves SSB Melee, Pikmin, Eternal Darkness, Rogue Leader and the Monkey Ball games for now, with some of the others coming in the next few months. It's still a much better exclusive lineup than the Xbox has, I'll grant, but there's still a lot of waiting involved. If you were an early GameCube adopter, what have you been playing until now?

First I was occupied with Luigi's mansion. I also bought Star Wars Rogue Leader, but I can't seem to get into it. Then I discovered the sublime SSB Melee and was hooked for months.
Now that I have Mario Sunshine, I'm busy for a while. It totally, totally rocks. I've spent hours just hopping around on rooftops and swimming around looking for stuff.
It has the addictive factor of Zelda: Link to the Past for SNES of Super Metroid, my two favorite games.

I would gladly purchase a 'Cube and wait for all those titles. I haven't played any of the current exclusives you mentioned, which will likely take me some time to get sick of, and by then the stuff I really want could be here. Besides, that would give me more time to repair the hole in my wallet.

BTW, is Shenmue II an Xbox exclusive?

I bought Sonic Adventure 2, which took up a nice chunk of time, followed by Rogue Leader. Then Smash Bros. Melee.

And now starting this month, the REAL fun starts. Sunshine got a 9.5 average from EGM, Animal Crossing looks killer, and Star Fox is looking interesting too). Nintendo's broadband and narrowband modems are going to be released this month as well.

October kicks off with several big sports titles (NBA/NHL/NCAA 2k3), Legands of Wrestlinf 2, Mario Party 4, and some game called Phantasy Star Online Episode 1 and 2, complete with offline 4 player splitscreen mode.

And of course....three months until Metriod Prime.

You should say ALLEGEDLY three months until Metroid Prime. Remember kiddies - Starfox was supposed to come out in March.
I saw a good demo of Prime at Wal-Mart. It looks cool, but I don't know if I'll ever get used to the first-person Samus thing. Of course, that's another issue for another thread, but it's weighing heavy on my mind. I hate first-person shooters.

I'm not the biggest fan of them either. But every couple years one comes out of nowhere and totally rocks. Since Unreal Tourney was the last such breakthrough game (at least in my opinion), we're overdue for another hottie.
