Sad that Marcia Wallace died. I'll always know her as the voice of Mrs. Edna Krabappel(-Flanders) on The Simpsons. I guess Ned will be a widower twice-diddily-ice. Wallace as Edna was a huge part of my life for the past quarter century.

Not that 4-7 year old me actually understood ANY of the jokes on "The Match Game," but that's always how I remember her first. (I caught up with "The Bob Newhart Show" much later.)

I also knew her from Match Game, which oddly was a must watch for me at that young age.

I later bought a DVD box set of the series and could appreciate it on a whole other level.

I suppose she's really been there for just about all of my life, from Match Game and Bob Newhart when I was a kid to the years of The Simpsons. Also, she did a nice guest turn as a biker chick on Charles In Charge. A sad loss.

The Bob Newhart Show for me.

I had a lovely conversation with her off-air when I was still in radio about 15 years ago and she was in town for a breast cancer research function. Got the impression she was one of those people who could talk to anyone.

Also, she won an Emmy for "Bart the Lover."

My tribute to Marcia Wallace and her voicing Edna Krabappel-Flanders.

Written tribute.

No. The writers are just retiring her character. The death for the season is still going ahead.

I'm home with a sick son today, and while channel surfing, came upon the Game Show network and Match Game was on. Of course, I had to stop to hear the bass solo and twangy 70's guitar. Marcia was one of the panelists, so I left it on. Two hours later, two Match games, one Super Password and one $100,000 Pyramid later, she's been on every one of them, and she personally helped all of her contestants win big. Nice tribute to her.

It is AMAZING how many hair changes this woman went thru. I know, I know, she's a woman, but the drastic changes over the years are funny.

We had an actress named Marcia,
She died! She died!
Fox said they'd air this tribute,
They lied! They lied!

It's some recent episode featuring Krabapple instead. They definitely announced it as Bart The Lover--it's listed on my cable box and there are lots of articles about it--but it's not there. Some rights issue? Did they not learn from when they had to wait a week to air the Michael Jackson episode? Grumble, grumble.
