Marc Loyd is so clueless and daft that you have no choice but to laugh at him. Rock reinfornced that on SD. Notice how he never can tell when someone is being facetious or sarcastic. In addition, when he thinks he did good - his face lights up like a little child.
I can't help but laugh at his naivete even though it's obviously contrived but still he turns it up like 5 notches to the point where you think this guy was actually one of the Brady kids or something.
Boy, is Rock going to abuse this guy. The stuff with Coach and Kevin Kelly don't seem to compare on first viewing of this. :)

| #4 Posted on 12.7.02 1747.02 | Why does everybody think Marc Loyd is so awful? Am I missing something? He just seems like another vanilla backstage interviewer to me. You know, he holds the mic well. He says, "Jamie Noble, you're defending your title tonight against Billy Kidman -- but isn't your mind really on the Hurricane?" with a reasonable degree of believability. What's the big deal?

| #5 Posted on 12.7.02 1942.24 | Like I said on the SMackdown Thread I am getting a major kick out of Mark Loyd. He is becoming one of my favourite non-wrestling characters. He just seems like a guy who thinking "How the hell did I luck myself into this gig" (lol). Plus he also seems totally clueless when someone is being sarcastic.
The only one who screwed it up was Triple H (what a surprise) when he looked directly at the camera like this guys an idiot. Triple H made it to obvious (idiot).
Great Loyd Stuff... First time I noticed Mark being strange was with the Linda/Trish interview. He was interviewing Linda asking who her partner will be and all of a sudden Trish pops into the screen. Mark starts smiling and acting like, well a little 'mark'. Trish gives her STratusfaction guarenttee lines leaves with Linda camera goes to Loyd with this look and smile of "wow Trish just talked to me". First time I thought, "what's the deal with this guy?"
Last week with the Undertaker Loyd mentioned that Taker didn't look to happy about what Vince said. Taker comes back with "Wow Loyd you are very observent" Loyd smiles and nods his head like I know I am thanks for noticing"...lol
And of course ths week with Rock asking who he is and Mark answers "I'm mark Loyd" Rock fakes interest "theee mark loyd" Loyd smiles and acts yup that's me, like he's over and popular and part of the WWE family...LOL.
I never liked Kelly. Coach actually looks like her could beat some ass in the ring so it doesn't work for him. Cole just annoys me. Mark Loyd is my favourite backstage interviewer well not named Lilian

Exactly my point. His inability to detect insincere sincerity is what makes him so enjoyable.
Added to that when he interviewed Kurt Angle and Kurt was doing his usual bragging, Loyd was shrugging his shoulders and nodding as if to say: "Yeah. That's true."
Or when he was interviewing Hogan and his face lit up and he was marking out by the sheer massive presence of the almighty, immortal one.
Kelly came off more than a whiner than anything. Coach is the WWF/E's version of Carlton Banks. And Cole is... well.. Cole.
Simply put, Marc Loyd should keep being a naive, apple pie idiot. It makes the interviews he does fun. :)

Coach was funny, dancing the Charleston, though he acts like he's in on the joke too much. A good backstage interviewer should be a chump and a mark.

| #9 Posted on 13.7.02 1505.27 | Cole is great. He was easily the best 'get made fun of by the Rock' guy in my opinion. He did great giving that 'Dammit, the Rock made fun of me again and I was too slow to catch it! Why canīt he just be nice to me?' vibe. Heīs also really good at giving the 'Iīm the pathetic bottom dog in the pack, please donīt hurt me even though I know youīre going to' look when about to be beaten up.

"Man , Kevin Kelly REALLY lost a lot of weight!"
Maybe it was due to the fact that I haven't seen Hermie for such a long time.

Cole was funny as a backstage interviewer. It was his promotion to announcer that damned us to a billion we could have a new champions and the channeling of the ghost of Tony Schiavonne.
