The Simpson's place is quite a stroll from Moe's, a walk that Homer makes regularly...I seem to remember in one episode Homer turning RIGHT out of Moe's, away from his house, and going through the woods to find the "alien" (X-files episode). Why the hell would he go right?? I know he was drunk, but THAT drunk?? This inconsistency has enraged me...and by Gawd, someone will pay. Other that that, great map!!!

I remember one episode where to the left of the Simpson house was the Flanders, and to the right was a chain link fence, and on the other side of the fence was the parking lot of the power plant!

I'm fairly sure that the powerplant was from the backyard, and the fence was away from the house.
But you could be right - I haven't seen the Stonecutter's Episode more than a couple of times.

They're from nothern Kentucky. It was in the "Behind The Music" episode. And yes, they're really is a Springfield, KY in the northern part of the state. I've been there and its pretty much empty.

Ah, but here is the rub...
when they reshowed the BTM episode, the reedited the footage so it said Springfield, Missouri. And I am pretty sure that they change it everytime the episode is shown.
KY is landlocked...and they have a pier, lighthouse, and docks....
I thought Matt said that the Simpson's is based on his life in Oregon...well, the characters anyway...he was bart ["brat"]

It's CLEARLY stated that the "actors" who play the Simpsons live in Kentucky. Remember, in Behind the Laughter, they are just actors and Springfield doesn't exist.
Besides, that episode like all the Halloween episodes take place outside of continuanity. Kang and Kodos should've tipped you off.
I always kind of assumed Springfield was in Missouri. Isn't Matt Groening from MO? Plus there are a few MO jokes sprinkled throughout the series, like why Granpa's flag only has 49 stars.
