Actually the "talking smack" was incredibly exagerated. I really only heard one player say anything other than "we want to come back and beat these guys.
Two, pass defense wasn't that bad. If it hadn't been for shooting themselves in the foot every third down, you would have seen a lot worse numbers out of Gannon. At least 100 (if not more) of his pass yards came on 3rd and long situations that the Steelers really should have stopped (I'm especially thinking of the 25 yard shuttle passes. Fuck.)
And I've never seen anyone drop linemen into coverage effectively. They may be faster than the O-Line, but they aren't faster than WRs. Especially when there are only 3 of them. If you drop linemen into coverage you only have 1 guy rushing the quarterback and thats just stupid. And the Steelers ran the dime a lot. Which is partially what screwed them (the missed tackles did the rest).
Oh, and while I'm bitching, how do you have a forward pass when the ball is never in the air? I'm still trying to figure that one out.
Marty doesn't need surgery. This is a great day. I almost feel like I can say, I don't care that the Steelers lost. Again.

Then again, considering how ridculous the offense and the special teams looked on Sunday, maybe not. The D looked ok(only giving up 3 FG's) but good god does Redman blow. I appreciated the high tops for his idol Johnny U. Unfortunately, he looked more like Stoney Case. | redsoxnation

| #5 Posted on 17.9.02 0918.42 | Time to take a long look at Kordell Stewart. He implodes in the AFC Championship Game against the Broncos, and his career falls off the map for about 3 years. Then, he implodes in the AFC Championship Game against the Patriots. By that pattern, Kordell is due for a good game at some point in the 2005 season.
Thank you Mr. Wanz for the check, now you get an AWA World Title Reign. But be careful, my boy Greg is a heat machine. | Jubuki

As bad as The Steelers are sucking...can it be worse then what The Rams are doing? 0-2 after a super bowl appearance. The rams are screwed...but still not as bad as the Cowboys and texans are. :(

Yeah, but there are at least reasons for hope in Houston. The Texans could be pretty good in a short time period. Especially since they are in a relatively weak division. The Rams are in a tough[er] divisoin and are enterng cap hell here soon. | rockdotcom_2.0

Ive said it before and Ill say it again, Its too early to write off the Rams or Steelers, especially the Rams. Still have 14 games left, I think Martz an get his act together. Write off the Rams and Steelers at your own peril....

Still can't stop turning over the ball. Defenses learn how to defend after seeing the same big plays 3 years in a row. No Fletcher keeping the Rams's D afloat either. But really I'd say it's a lack of confidence; when they said that "We're gonna have secret practices" bull, it was obvious they were worried about something. |
