From TNAWrestling.com:

On Tuesday morning, TNA management informed TNAwrestling.com that the company has come to terms with a "major acquisition" who will appear this Sunday during the live "Genesis" Pay-Per-View.

When reached for comment, TNA President Dixie Carter offered the following:

"This is the single biggest jump in TNA history," Carter said. "The contract is signed, the travel is set and in my opinion, 'Genesis' just got a whole lot more intriguing."

TNA will have further information on the "major acquisition" this Sunday on the live countdown preshow a half hour before "Genesis".

------------------------

Let the speculation begin!

They make it sound like Christian, but it's probably Charlie Haas....

BTW, I think I saw a pic of Dixie Carter.... I think she's a younger woman, if I'm not mistaken.... Sorry, tangent....

By the way, Storm's gimmick includes 1.) telling the audience to shut up, and 2.) occasionally making everyone stand for the Canadian national anthem. You know they don't know what to do with a wrestler when he's making fans stand for a national anthem. It's like waving a white flag and saying, "This guy has no personality -- we give up."

So is Scherer.

I always pictured Dixie Carter as a dried up old lady, but she's pretty hott after all.

The only other person it could possibly be is Jericho, but he's an Actor/Musician now, according to VH1 anyways.

I just hope that if it is Christian, they don't give him some lame ass name...we shall soon see however.

Even though WWE owns the Christian name, can't he use the name "Christian Cage" as he used in his years before WWE?

I think that all signs point to Christian.

I think that he also owns the Christian name because he used the name "Christian Cage" prior to joining the WWE.

I could see him pairing with Rhino, after he is done with his program with the Dudleys (I refuse to call them Team 3D).

Or, could it be Brock Lesnar, because of the TNA-NJPW connection, although this is highly unlikely, until December 15.

Holy Crap, that really is her. She's pretty cute. Why SHE can't be on TV, yet I see Stephanie McMahon....

Getting back to the main subject (and not allowing myself to be distracted by the hot chick)-- if it is Christian, wow, didn't take him long, did it? This could be huge for TNA-- if they don't repeat the same mistakes WWE did in terms of booking him. And if they allow him to have an actual character, unlike virtually the entire promotion.

If it's not Christian, this press release makes them look like assholes. When there's one free agent that everyone is talking about, why hype a major acquisition that turns out to be someone else? So it probably is Christian. I'm still not sure that this was the best way to announce the pickup though. I would've rather they kept it under their hats, and just had him show up on their next prime time special. I know they're hoping to grab a few extra buys on the PPV without spoiling the surprise reveal, but I don't think it's going to work that way. Would've made a better surprise on free tv.

from - tnawrestlingnews.com:

For those who keep wanting to speculate, the big acquisition is Christian and nobody else.

The reason TNA didn't announce Christian by name as appearing at Genesis this Sunday is simply because they are not sure on what they will be calling him just yet. The final verdict will be revealed at the PPV on Sunday.

TNA obviously wants to do everything right to try to avoid a legal lawsuit so they will be looking over the matter before 'officially' announcing him by name. TNAWrestlingNews.com has learned that this was said to have been a done deal for quite some time, even before Christian left WWE. The two sides had been talking and a deal was finally signed this past week according to one source familiar with the situation.

I seriously thought this "Dixie Carter" was the one from Designing Women, and I'd always wondered how SHE got involved with wrestling.

I sure hope THIS is the thread that gets chosen for the time capsule.

"DESIGNING WOMEN" WAS A FICTIONAL TELEVISION SHOW.

Also, I think enough people have noticed that Chris Jericho is an "actor/musician" that we can stop pretending that every time it's said, the person saying it is the only person to have noticed - I know, I'm as shocked as you are that you're not the ONLY person to watch "I Love the 80's" either with or without the 3-D glasses (I chose "with," but not for very long as I felt it would surely cause a headache eventually) but you weren't.

That is all. Thanks for being a part of SWEEPS MONTH!

He just filled for the name "Christian Cage" in the US Trademark and Patent Office.

Word Mark CHRISTIAN CAGE
Goods and Services: Multimedia software recorded on CD-ROM featuringgames related to professional wrestling; Pre-recorded CD's, video tapes, laser disks and DVD's featuring wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler
Mark Drawing Code (4) STANDARD CHARACTER MARK
Serial Number 78745389
Filing Date November 2, 2005
Owner (APPLICANT) William Jason Reso INDIVIDUAL CANADA c/o BWCS Sports/Media 9242 Beverly Blvd., Suite 200 Beverly Hills UNITED STATES 90210.

It looks like WWE received trademarked "Christian" back in 2001. I'm no lawyer, so I don't know if "Christian Cage" will fly, or if it will be seen as a violation of the already registered WWE trademark.

Nonetheless, it was a fictional television show! So WHAT if I can't remember which name is the character and which name is the actress portraying her!

Well, I guess it's up to the people at the patent office to decide if "Christian Cage" is too close to "Christian," although I'm not sure what the logistics are of trying to copyright a stage name that could also be a real name (like trying to copyright "John"). On the other hand, if it doesn't work out, I always figured he could get away with "Chris Cage" no problem.
