My first memory of her was the whole Mark Henry angle when I was just barely a teenager. I thought it was strange that an old woman was on pro-wrestling but then I learned her background. A true great.

That woman was a game dame. She took some astounding bumps in the WWE. Give that lady a viking funeral.

She's been taken off life support. So if not yet, it is imminent.

R.I.P. Mae, I'll never forget seeing you crash (and win) the Miss Royal Rumble contest in MSG live in the audience that night.

R.I.P. Mae Young

I've seen a lot of people on social media bitching about the WWE "destroying her legacy" during the Attitude Era. They seem to be completely ignorant to the fact that 1.) were it not for that period, 95% of wrestling fans would have no idea who she was and 2.) she was clearly having the time of her life during most of those shenanigans.

I just watched the "Lipstick & Dynamite" documentary a couple weeks ago. Mae & Moolah actually addressed that complaint at the end and they defended themselves with pretty much the same points you made above.

Obviously Moolah and Mae sometimes looked like crazy old women during their skits.
But come on. It's wrestling.
The way she threw herself at the young guys was hilarious.
The fact that she still loved to perform for the crowds in her late 80s is amazing. She always seemed to enjoy herself.

And yeah, without the attitude (and later) shenanigans we wouldn't even remember who they were.
But thanks to that I have some great memories of this woman.
One of my favorite 'crazy' ones isn't the birth of the hand (or seeing him as a grown up) but a skit with Mae and Mark in bed, he goes down as the lights go out and you hear him shout "MmMMm Tutti Frutti"

But of course the most insane of them all, which showed her true dedication to this business (and the trust she had to put into the guys around her) is the Bubba bomb through the table. It's still an amazing visual.

R.I.P Mae. Young.

How is Batista "overpushed"? Yeah, he's a member of Evolution, but whenever an Evolution member takes a pin, it's invariably Batista. He's a 2-time tag title winner, but that was only because: 1st time)
