Very eventful episode. -CREEPY GLEN returns. -No Peggy whatsoever. -Don discovers Lane's embezzlement. -Sally gets her period. -Don gets fired up about making the firm big and awesome. -Death visits SCDP.
To avoid being overly spoilerish, the last 15 minutes were both extremely well-done and extremely hard to watch. Great work by all involved.
And if they put THIS MUCH STUFF into the second-to-last episode, what's left for the season finale next week?
I finished watching Game of Thrones last night and I was totally blown away. A couple hours later I put on Mad Men. I really couldn't believe they topped game of thrones. Some amazingly crafted arcs going down on this show.
Wasn't expecting the lane story to resolve so quickly. Well done. I seems like they are phasing Peggy out (on the show and in real life) in favor of Joan. I can see why.
"I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ."
Excellent episode. I really didn't expect Lane to do it so soon after his Jaguar attempt comically failed. It will be intresting to see what this doess to the company when word starts to spread.
It's the first time I ever felt troubled watching Joan knowing what she had to do to get herself where she is. I loved Don's comment on his no vote and whether he should leave the room and let them decide anyways.
I like how Kenny flatly refused a partnership based on the way he has seen everyone act, plus he stuck it to Pete in the process. I figured Roger letting him write would be part of the deal.

I would be shocked if they wrote Peggy out of the show. In fact, I'd be shocked if we didn't see her next week in the season finale. She's the #2 character after Don.
According to sources on Twitter, the last couple of episodes of the season overlapped with the filming for a movie Moss was making in New Zealand, so it's highly unlikely she'll be back next week. I would be very, very surprised if we didn't see her next season, though. (Although I thought the same thing about Sal.)
Sal was a supporting character. Peggy is, as mentioned, the secondary lead after Don. She's not going anywhere, unless we hear something big about Moss' film career in the next few months. I do think before the series ends, we'll get one "catching up with Sal" episode to conclude his story like how Paul Kinsey returned earlier this year.
Ken's scene with Roger was fantastic. It occurs to me that Kenny is literally the only character on the show that seems to be totally well-adjusted and without any overt demons in the closet.
Great episode of a great season. It was well worth the longer wait for the new series.
"It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone." --- Bart Giamatti, on baseball
If I remember correctly the actor who played Sal was at odds with the show over his pay and that's why he got axed. If this is the case, I doubt we see him again.
Am I in Horseville? Because I'm hearing nothing but naysayers!

I didn't mean leaving, I meant taking a backseat to Joan. Really, the entire show has been about Peggy's career in advertising, and she has definitely been the #2 character. I am thinking that they land Firestone, and that would hurt Peggy's new employer, and she will be forced to come back after being downsized as the low man on the totem pole.

But Peggy got hired at CGC as the head of all copywriting. Hard to can that person, even if they're new.
