| #1 Posted on 13.4.05 1114.15 | Instant Rating: 8.44 | Apple finally made the long-awaited announcement of a release date for their next version of OS X - version 10.4 is also known as Tiger, following the tradition of big cat names for X (10.0 was Cheetah, 10.1 Puma, 10.2 Jaguar and 10.3 Panther - no, I had to look them up, too).
Anyway, their new preview page also went up yesterday - Check it out at http://www.apple.com/macosx/overview/.
I should have posted this yesterday, but I think I was too busy yelling at someone else for posting old, outdated information. ;-)

Note that the Mac Mini is listed as compatable hardware. Now, this is interesting because when it was released many people said that it would not support all of the features of Tiger -- but there isn't an asterisk showing limited support.
Did they get everything working on it, or are they just not telling the entire story here with the supported computers list?

I'm running 10.3.9 right now, and I'll probably make the switch to 10.4 pretty quickly. Of course, if I get the job I'm looking at right now, I'll celebrate by switching to a Mini and load Tiger onto that.
