We're moving in a a couple of weeks, finally away from apartment life and into a house. As such, we're getting satellite service, and I'll finally be able to watch lucha on Galavision.

Is there anything I should know as far as storylines go? Which fed (or feds) comprises the lucha line-up?

Well, my sister has a satellite thing going, and I watch Lucha whenever I'm there. I haven't really watched regularly enough to sort out the storylines, though. I can tell you that there's DEFINITELY no pregnancies there. Oh, and unless you saw TNA Impact, you might be thrown off by the six sided ring.

TheCubsfan is your hookup: http://www.thecubsfan.com/cmll
He's got a FAQ on there, useful links, recaps, a schedule & all sorts of other goodies.

There's also an old thread here titled "Lucha Q&A" (The W) that may have some useful stuff for you.

Thank you to both Emma and Ringmistress. I should have remembered that Cubs had lucha stuff on his page.

I've got a lucha recommendation:

watch CMLL (Shocker dominates)

do not watch AAA, it's brutal

As long as we're on the subject of Lucha newbies, I have a question.

My cousin got married in Mexico recently, and just when I thought I wasn't going to find any lucha-related goodies on my brief trip, they handed out lucha masks as party favors at the wedding! Best...party favor...EVER!

I snagged two masks, and I know that the black-red-and-blue one is from Fuerza Guererra, better known to me as "Juvi's dad". Which is certainly way cool. But I don't know whose mask the other is. It's a red mask with yellow tassels hanging from the front, lots of gold pointy things on the face and top, and a big black w-shaped piece of leather over the eyse (with more gold foil where it dips down between the eyes. If that description can be followed, let me know. If not, maybe there's someplace on line where I can search/browse through different mask styles. TIA.

I keep wanting to do a long post and keep getting busy, but I should mention http://www.lethalwrestling.com/ opinions/news_content.php? fileName=683 as a good "connect the name with the face" place to check out before you watch for CMLL guys (and I think there's an AAA one around there somewhere.)

Highspots has a great mask section that you may want to check out.

I just got DTV in the new house and based on my season passes of RAW, SmackDown! and OVW, my TiVo assumed I'd want Lucha Libre too. I had no idea I had Galavision, so I'll be interested to take a look once it records!

Absolutely.

The quality of AAA has dropped off tremendously since the end of the 90's.

CMLL, despite their repetetive nature is where it's at right now. Atlantis and Dr. Wagner had a good 2 out of 3 falls match that just recently aired.

The only thing I'm not exactly sure of is how old these shows are. A couple of months maybe? Most of the recent shows don't even air in Mexico until weeks after.

In any case, at the moment, it's CMLL over AAA.

A comprehensive list of what's going to air on GALA and when it was originally taped is available here.
