Giants great Lawrence Taylor arrested in rape case (abclocal.go.com)
RAMAPO (WABC) -- Police are investigating a reported rape involving New York Giants Hall-of-Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor.
The Town of Ramapo Police Department is currently investigating the incident, which occurred early Thursday at the Holidome Hotel in Montebello.
The 51-year-old Taylor, who currently resides in Pembroke Pines, Florida, but has a home in New Jersey, is under arrest and awaiting formal charges.
Published reports say the victim was a 15-year-old girl and that Taylor will be charged with third-degree rape. There are also reports that the victim was beaten.
Additional information will be released later today at a press conference that is tentatively scheduled for sometime between 2 and 4 p.m. at the Town of Ramapo Town Hall.
Taylor has a long history of run-ins with the law, including an arrest for buying cocaine from undercover police officers.

Granted, as soon as you see "runaway" and "pimp" in the articles, the level of consent is probably not that high.

That being said, what does it say about me as a NY fan that I don't find this anywhere near as sad or dissappointing as I did when Doc Gooden was arrested for DUI with his kid in the car?

I don't think that's what he was attempting to imply. In any event, Bigelow did have several drugs, including toxic levels of cocaine, in his system when he died.

Therefore, a 16-year-old can't legally give consent, no matter what she says. That puts LT on the hook for 3rd-degree rape.
