It's been almost two and a half years since we've had a Sawyer-centric episode, but man, was it worth it. Josh Holloway might be getting a long-deserved Emmy nomination for this one.

Questions (as always) abound. What happened to Horace's first wife Olivia? Do Sawyer and company know that young Ben Linus is amongst them, since if my timeline is correct, he and Roger came to the Island around the mid-70's. Did it look like the statue (FINALLY!!!!) resembled a woman? With long hair? Could the final time-shift that sounded like an earthquake been what destroyed the statue (and who knows what else in the time frame)?

Cheers to Jin's fluent English!

the statue is easily the highpoint of the episode even though it was at the very beginning.

I love how Sawyer played the "I should have gone for it." move. THEY HAD SEX IN A POLAR BEAR CAGE~!

lots of great Sawyer lines too.

Is this the beginning of brain-addled Faraday?

I thought we would see young Ben tonight.

Hooray for Richard Alpert.

I don't know if anyone would be able to place a young Ben Linus as among them, but I look forward to Hurley and Sawyer identifying Roger in his workman jumpsuit. And maybe Jin now too since he's fluent!

I need to look at the statue again. I'm still thinking its Egyptian in origin (didn't they have four-toed gods?) given the prevalence of heiroglyphics on the island. Could the long hair have been a headpiece?

This episode was awesome, even if it wasn't super eventful. Nice to see how the group winds up working for Dharma. Awesome to see Sawyer step up. Its lucky for them Horace is so naive. I don't see how, if you're up to neck in danger with hostiles, you don't interrogate the whole group separately to see where their story falls apart.

Didn't Ben ask Juliet for just two more weeks once? She really has to learn to leave the island when she has her chances. Are she and Sawyer living in her future house? I'd totally scrawl shit into the wall like "Don't trust Ben" even if I knew it wouldn't do any good.

WHAT THE HELL DOES THE PROMO DEPARTMENT MEAN "IN TWO WEEKS!?!?!?!"

Yeah, they're just showing this one again next week. I have no idea why - is there something interesting on that they don't want to go up against? I was under the impression they weren't doing that anymore...

Nothing special on the networks, other than an Idol vote-off show.

It's strange how they're doing it. They actually have *two* off-weeks scheduled this season. That way, the 17-week season will end at the right time (at the end of May sweeps). Couldn't they have just started two weeks later?

The season actually *was* supposed to start two weeks later, but ABC bumped it up early to give the show less time up against American Idol. But really, this is kind of BS given that we were promised an uninterrupted season.

Thanks for clearing up ABC's stupid ass policies.

Two further thoughts:

1. I guess Juliet would recognize a young Ben Linus, or at least recognize the name when introduced.

2. When Locke fell into the Orchid, was he in the same time frame as everyone else? Cuz that would also mean Christian Shepard was around at the same time as The Statue, so either his post-death powers include time travel, or he too was jumping with each flash just like everyone else. (Which would make sense, since he was on 815 just like Locke, Sawyer, and Jin.) Does this also imply that Claire was skipping around wherever she might be?

I hope the writers clear up just when the heck everyone is. If that really was Charlotte that Daniel saw, things are a bit confusing since she was allegedly born in 1979, and Sawyer claimed they were in 1974.

Christian isn't corporeal, so I don't think he's jumping around time like the Losties were.

Hmm...but maybe by killing those two guys, they've now created a different 1974-1977?! So when they return to 2007, things are different and Marty McFly suddenly has a nice new pick-up truck.

A bit odd that everyone else had their first names on their jumpsuits, but Sawyer's had his last name: "Lafleur". But it's possible to whip up a No-Prize Explanation and surmise that the name on the suit is simply what most people call you. As we've seen in the series, Sawyer prefers to be called by his last name.

And, YES! The statue! Although one interesting question I heard asked at Comic-Con back in July was: "how old is Richard Alpert and how many toes does he have?!"

ABC has already canceled 80% of the television I watch so in comparison taking two weeks off from Lost doesn't really seem like a big deal.

It's going to be a really strange story arc if it takes place in the 70's from here on out.

One thing that bothers me everytime I see it and I never really realized it until last night is that the time island moving wheel is such a rickty looking piece of garbage. Couldn't they have splurged on a nicer looking device?

As Andre the Giant once said: "Three years is a long time."

Sawyer James Ford LaFleur really stepped up as the Big Man of the Island with Jack and Locke gone. Sawyer was always content to just hang back, read, drink beer, and mack on Kate when Man of Science and Man of Faith were going at it but he moved into his leadership role pretty well. The only thing missing from Jimmy LaFleur strutting around the Barracks in slow motion smelling the flowers were Dharma people winking at him and giving him thumbs up as he passed by.

Obviously Jack and Kate are gonna fuck up the Sawyer and Juliet romance just by their mere presence. But Jack better not fuck up the good thing Creole Jimmy LaFleur has going for himself with Dharma. Jack really has no leg to stand on if he's gonna get all uppity and assert his "leadership" again. He has no clue what's been going on and there are no Oceanic castaways in 1977 to follow him and his mood swings. Wait, or are there? Whatever happened to Rose and Bernard?

When Hurley hits the Barracks, the Dharma food stores won't know what hit them.

I liked Miles making fun of Sawyer's plans A and B. "We can go back to the beach. Or what gets boring, we can go back to the Orchid again. Those are the only two plans you people have." That's not true. Sometimes they go to the radio tower.

I also loved Three Years Later Dharma Jin, all fluent in English. "Golly, James old chap, I certainly hope Juliet can successfully perform that Caesarian section on Amy."

IS young Ben on the Island yet by '77? It begs the Hitler time travel question: Would you kill Ben Linus when he's young before he can do all the terrible shit he's gonna do?

They didn't really make it seem like the baby born to Amy is gonna grow up to be anyone important.

Dharma child services should probably red flag Daniel Faraday and keep him away from little girl Charlotte Lewis.

Where does Richard shop on the Island? He's the most fashionable Other in any decade.

I want a Three Toed Statue bobblehead for my work desk.

They need to take a week off so that the finale can air on May 20th (the final day of May sweeps). I assume they decided after looking at this season's plot lines that in between this week and the next was the least disruptive time to take a week off.

I find it hilarious that Faraday has kept his tie on throughout this whole thing.

New theory - if you go back in time you don't age until you catch up to when you went back. This is why Richard doesn't age - he's from the future. Heck, maybe we'll even see him go back in time to start the settlement.

I could be completely super way off on this, but this was the first week I noticed some grey hairs on some of the cast members. Off the top of my head I remember seeing some grey whiskers in Three Years Earlier Sawyer's beard and on Three Years Earlier Miles' temples.

Was I just not very observant before and the grey hair was there all along? Or has all the time travel caused some premature aging??

One thing that's been sticking with me is Dead Locke eating (and quite enjoying) a mango. Was that supposed to clue us in to how things work with dead people? If Dead Locke is like Dead Christian, then maybe it's a mix of corporeal and not corporeal. Also, Dead Christian picked up and held baby Aaron.

It's fine with me. My dumb local station had a blow out college basketball game on before lost, it ran over and they showed it in non-hd. I am sure I missed stuff, so I need another look.

We'll be back right after order has been restored here in the Omni Center.
