There's an awful lot to discuss from that episode, but I'm mostly amused that Michael seemingly feels no remorse for killing Ana Lucia because seriously fuck that bitch. (I know Cynthia Watros was much cheaper to fly in for a two-line cameo than Michelle Rodriguez, but allow me my interpretation, dammit!)

"Um, we already knew that like a million years ago." Classic Hurley.

Was this the first episode without Jack?

One month to find out what happens to Michael and who the people are that killed Carl and Rousseau.

And Mr. Friendly is gay! Interesting to develop his character after he is dead.

I loved how pretty much everyone Michael encountered (except his nurse, mom and Miles) is now dead. Just added to the creepiness of the episode. The Island doesn't let people die unless it's finished with them?! Yikes. Perhaps that's why Jack was weeping over the obit in last year's finale....someone from the island is finally dead, and thus it shows that the O6 are no longer 'needed' to return and thus he won't get back.

Jin's watch (that Michael pawned) is going to end up being a big clue.

Dexley, it was the first Jack-less episode this season, but not ever.

(edited by Big Bad on 21.3.08 0012)

“How is it that I am a good actor? What I do is I... pretend to be the person I’m portraying. You’re confused. Case in point: in Lord of the Rings, Peter Jackson comes to me and says ‘I would like you to be Gandalf the Wizard,’ and I said ‘You are aware that I am not really a wizard?’ and Peter Jackson said ‘I would like you to use your acting skills to portray a wizard for the duration of the show.’ So I said ‘Okay’ and then I said to myself ‘Mmm.. How do I do that?’ And this is what I did: I imagined that I was a wizard, and then I pretended, and acted, in that way on the stage. How did I know what to say? The words were written down for me in a script. How did I know where to stand? People told me where to stand." -- Sir Ian McKellen, Extras

You can't change the future. Course correction will kill you if you escape your intended death and keep you alive until it's your time.

Ben MUST have figured that shooting Locke would not kill him.

This is also how everyone survived the plane crash.

How's this for a mind-fuck? Desmond was MEANT to get to the island and accidentally cause a plane crash that basically everyone on board was MEANT to survive. Because everybody has "work to do." This show is effed up, yo.

Michael ineffectively attempting suicide was amusing.

They CAN'T kill Rousseau. I've listened to Lindeloff and Cuse promise a Rousseau flashback episode in the podcasts for too damn long. Asshats!

The whole first sequence leading to Michael's first attempted suicide attempt was awesome for its ambiguity. It wasn't clear it was a flashback until he survived. I'd love to see what transpired between departing from the dock and Michael and Walt arriving in Manhattan, but this was cool.

I'm glad that it was Rousseau and Carl that bit it, and not any of the Oceanic members. I still think that Claire is next on the hitlist, but I'll be pissed if she is.

I'm really thinking its Michael in the casket...

ETA: Of course Ben knew shooting Locke wouldn't kill him. Why else would he shoot him where he no longer had a kidney? Its not like his file wouldn't have included that information.

And I'm surprised it took THIS long to get the Tom-is-gay confirmation, after we had the 'you're not my type' comment to Kate early last season.

But HERE'S my one point of confusion: Ever since the sky went purple, they lost contact with the outside world, yet Michael left just as that happened... so how was Tom able to get to him?

Death seems to be great for a tertiary character. Naomi is going to end up being in far more episodes dead than alive.

Communications might have been down, but they could still use the sub...until Locke blew it up.

Despite Sayid ruining everything tonight, I would SO be in for a Sayid/Desmond spin-off where they fight crime. Those two are awesome together.

Sayid turning Michael in didn't seem like the normally well thought out action that he would usually take.

This was a good episode and answered some of the newer questions, but I didn't feel as sucked into it as I normally do.

I was thinking the same thing about Sayid. Telling the Freighties about Michel seemed like a knee jerk reaction that usually wouldn't happen to Sayid, but I guess even Sayid has his moments when he isn't thinking clearly.

A Desmond/Sayid crime fighting show would be awesome. ABC could put it back to back with a sitcom starring Sawyer and Hurley as oddball roommates.

I loved this season so far and the rest of the season should be fun, but I'm worried about next season. I'm sure that we'll still see stuff that happens on the island and that group (Locke, Ben if he can go back and forth, Sawyer, Desmond, Claire and Jin if they are still alive, Freighties and the Others are still out there) is going to rock. But you know next season is going to mainly focus on the O6. Jack sucks on the mainland. Kate sucks period. Sun without Jin isn't interesting. Hurley without Charlie or Sawyer is only okay. The only thing remotely interesting about the 06 is Sayid/Ben.

Would that be before or after ABC premieres "Fishing with Bernard and Jin"?

Someone pointed out to me that they thought they noticed Alex wearing an earpiece (gallery.lost-media.com) when Danielle and Karl were shot...I guess it may look like something is there.

Is it possible that this is how Sayid gets roped into working for Ben? Maybe he will realize his error in trusting the captain, and try to redeem his consience by saving the rest of the survivors on the island by working with Ben.

Ben's up on that kind of thing so it wouldn't surprise me.

My first thought was that when Sayid asked Michael to repeat that he worked for Ben it was kinda like Sayid was doing his "I can tell when you are lying" deal. Perhaps he is telling the captain in hopes of figuring out who Ben's man really is, because he doesn't believe Michael? Maybe it's the captain? I don't know but I don't see Sayid as his character has been presented as flying off the handle and doing stupid things.

I'm expecting the captain to say "no kidding" when the show comes back.

I thought Rousseau was dead, but the more I think bout it, the more I expect the island to heal her.

After going WTF that Sayid would rat out Michael so quickly, I decided that maybe Sayid is already working for Ben and is covering the tracks so to say.

Desmond hasn't been saying or doing much since his brush with time/death. Someone joked about it but I am starting to wonder if he is really okay.

I'm still surprised Michael went ahead with helping The Others.

Is it a month until the next episode now?

Yes. They've still got a few pre-strike episodes left, but they thought this was the best spot for the break they'd have to take before the post-strike episodes would be ready.

Rousseau is so not dead.

Ahhh ... remember the scene where Kate was going to take a shower? Mr. Friendly's line of "trust me, you're not my type" really makes sense now ...

Someone pointed out on another site (getlostpodcast.com) that the man lying in the bed next to Michael's in the hospital sure as heck looks an awful lot like Alvar Hanso. Wowee!

That Elvis release...wow. My girlfriend is a giant Elvis fan and I'm tempted to get that for her. The Rendlesham UFO case is one of the more convincing ones out there, so I'm somewhat interested in that one too.
