Sayid may have the most consistently good centric episodes of anyone on the show. Damn, what a great character. His inclusion in the Oceanic Six is shocking -- I thought he'd be the last person who would (potentially) leave people behind on the island, but I should've used Russo logic and figured that would make Sayid a prime candidate for the O6.

The only visible name on one of Ben's passports was 'Dean Moriarty.' Any Kerouac fans out there? Or, I guess, Sherlock Holmes fans?

I'm suspicious about this Minkowski character. First he is mysteriously absent from the radio last episode, then this time, Frank warns Daniel not to say anything if Minkowski answers the phone. Could he be Ben's man on the boat?

Is hiding out in Otherville such a smart move? The rest of the Others (Alpert, the kidnapped 815ers, etc.) could come back at any minute. They aren't dead --- they're just hiding out at 'the Temple.' I would love it if the Temple actually turns out to be the temple of the head of the collapsed four-toed statue.

“How is it that I am a good actor? What I do is I... pretend to be the person I’m portraying. You’re confused. Case in point: in Lord of the Rings, Peter Jackson comes to me and says ‘I would like you to be Gandalf the Wizard,’ and I said ‘You are aware that I am not really a wizard?’ and Peter Jackson said ‘I would like you to use your acting skills to portray a wizard for the duration of the show.’ So I said ‘Okay’ and then I said to myself ‘Mmm.. How do I do that?’ And this is what I did: I imagined that I was a wizard, and then I pretended, and acted, in that way on the stage. How did I know what to say? The words were written down for me in a script. How did I know where to stand? People told me where to stand." -- Sir Ian McKellen, Extras

I kept expecting Sayid and Elsa to go all Mr-and-Mrs-Smith on each other, but I was still surprised when she shot him. I recognized Ben's voice at the end of the episode, but that still quite the WTF-moment.

I need to wrap my head around Daniel's experiment. He radios the ship and asks them to shoot a package. They shoot it and confirm it was delivered. Daniel then doesn't recieve the package for 31 minutes. Assuming that the radio waves for the transmission travel instantaneously, does that mean Daniel was broadcasting 31 minutes into the future? The fact that Daniel does this right after Jack comments that he hasn't seen a ball game in 100 days clearly implies that a different amount of time has passed in the real world than everyone thinks.

(But how does this reconcile with Desmond pushing a button every 108 minutes? When he and Juliet say they've been on the island for 3 years, does that mean they both came in 2001, or do they think its a different year? Or have they been there so long they simply lost track?)

I may need to stop watching this show. There are SO MANY questions that I NEED answered NOW, I may just have to go give up until I can watch the whole series on DVD. Waiting for Thursday will be agonizing.

At the beginning the credits advertised Harold Perrineau for this episode. He's the actor that played Michael in the first two seasons. I kept expecting him in some fashion, even as Sayid's boss at the end, but he never made it in the episode.

I didn't notice that Jack mentioned the games right before the experiment. Then Daniel tells the pilot to follow the exact path that they came on. A black hole maybe? Now I'm having a tough time wrapping my head around this. I'm going to have to ponder that part some more. Is the time thing what makes them being saved so amazing to everyone?

I was happy to see that Ben is alive and well and still pulling the strings. So, does that bring us back to Locke being the one that had the funeral at the end of last season, or is somebody we might not have met yet on the freighter?

Sayid shooting the guy in the beginning came out of nowhere for me. I had figured the guy was the threat, not Sayid. From there it was obvious that the rest of the episode would be about him trying to get close to the next person he had to kill. The Ben reveal was excellent, but was foreshadowed a bit by Sayid finding all of the passports back on the island. I would think that "the economist" is some sort of higher-up in whatever organization sent the freighter, since Ben said Sayid was protecting his friends and that could mean the people still on the island. But why did (or who made) Ben leave?

Jack and Kate's little moment before she left with Sayid and Miles was well done. Hurley being wary of Sayid because of his break dance neck snap move was funny. Faraday's beacon was a cool moment. I hope he elucidated whatever's going through his mind so we can get a better sense of all this time discontinuity business.

The season is really good so far, and that's not just because nothing else is on TV.

He rejoined the main cast, and they're all listed, whether they actually show up or not. He's been in the credits for all three episodes so far this season.

On the contrary, I think it makes it *more* likely that it was Ben in the coffin. I never got the sense that this episode's flash-forward was necessarily taking place after the events of the flash-forward from last season's finale. Now we know for certain that Ben makes it off the island. If Ben is still playing evil puppet-master off the island, that sure would generate a whole lot of antipathy towards him, and as far as we know, Ben has no friends or family.

I agree here. I think all of the flash-forwards this season will lead up to the one we saw in the Season 3 finale, and all of the real-time island stuff will lead up to the Oceanic 6 being revealed to the world. Then Season 5 will go from that point on and we see Jack and maybe some others get back to the island. So, Ben is still the primary suspect for the guy in the casket in my mind.

Well at least things are clearing up a bit. So those six got off the island but many didn't. Why is still up in the air. But it seems finding the island is damn tricky even if you kinda know where it is. Possibly something to do with that whole Vile Vortices theory which is matching up better every day it seems. It would explain how the plane got sucked in and crashed there as did Desmonds boat, the drug plane all the way from Africa, Danielle's boat and the Black Rock. That would also be how the polar bear got to the island and then into the desert. And its possible Penny knows about these things and that's why she has people stationed in Antarctica near one of them trying to find it.

And Ben has been doing what he can to keep people from finding it all this time, most likely the Dharma people I would guess. That would also make it him that faked the plane crash in the water so that people would stop looking for it in case they might find the island too.

So none of the rescue people are going to make it off, that's clear or that group would still be able to find the place. And from that visit with Hurley by the black guy they still don't know what went on there or quite how to get back. Ben hired Sayid to kill them all off so they won't be able to find it again, because for whatever reason Sayid now believes those people are a threat to his friends.

Plus Ben seems to be able to come and go as he wants.

Oh and as for the Vortices theory, wouldn't it be cool if that means the ship is actually sitting no where near the island but halfway across the globe near another of the Vortices? So that would be why they have to fly the exact way to get back, because they have to get sucked back through and also why there is a 31 minute delay.

I think the island itself moves. Through space and time. That's why sometimes it is noticed by an arctic research station, and why it can pick up Nigerian planes, and drop off polar bears in Tunisia...it just kinda slips around in time/space.

Does anyone know why Zoe Bell is in the credits? What is she going to be doing on the show?

I believe she's the voice on the other end of Faraday's phone.

I'm still saying it's Michael in the casket:

{Harold Perrineau alluded to it being him during a Comic Con Q+A, but of course that could just be a swerve.}

So if Sayid is now begrudgingly working for Ben in order to protect his friends, does that mean the Oceanic 6 got off because of BEN, and not the freighter people as we assumed?

Anyone catch that repeat of Criminal Intent on Monday after RAW? It guest-starred *Michael Emerson* as a man whose family believes is an *economist* for the United Nations. Freaky.

If you say so. I don't see how a vague reference to an actor dropping hints that may or may not be legit during a Q+A is a genuine spoiler, but I edited it and clarified the context just to be safe.

I need to dig up that quote, but I remember listening to the recording of the session, and Harold's allusions came across as nothing more than speculation on his part. From what I understand, the writers have been rather tight-lipped with the actors about their characters' fates beyond a-few-episodes-from-now so as to prevent them from leaking anything major.

I tried finding the transcript I read myself but failed... it had seemed like a sarcastic answer IIRC, hence me saying its legitimacy is up in the air.

Here's something else to add to the awesomeness that is Lost this season. Out of the eight episodes that are in the can for this season, there are no Jack episodes. That is awesome because every time we go a few weeks without a Jack episode I'm reminded that i actually really like Jack (and Matthew Fox) but then a flash back/forward episode of him pops up and for some reason he's annoying off the island.

If anybody is curious about who the rest of this season's episodes are about here they are. I don't think it will spoil anything but I'll put a spoiler tag since I know some people don't even watch the preview because they want to be surprised.

Spoiler Below: Highlight text to read

Episode 4: Kate
Episode 5: Desmond
Episode 6: Juliet
Episode 7: Regina (Zoe Bell)
Episode 8: Michael

So there is a theory out there that people can somehow travel through time. So are we to think the Ben in the Sayid flash forward is Ben in that time, or could it actually be Ben in present time zapping himself through time? I mean Ben has all those passports but at least from we we've seen he's never gone long enough to go anywhere. So is he using the passports to go somewhere in time and then come back so that in current time it seems like he hasn't be gone at all?

It was kind of nice to see 3/4th of the strike team back in action for a little bit there. Where's Tavon, though? It would be a shame if they don't at least address what happened to him.
