So that's what Jack's tattoos mean! Thanks, Lost! I care so much more about that than the rest of the island's mysteries!

The biggest revelation in this one was Cindy and the kidnapped kids looking fine and dandy. It would've been funny if Jack had answered the question about Ana Lucia with, "Well, she drove home from the bar one night..."

I don't know what is more disquieting -- the fact that the rest of the statue is missing, or that it has four toes.

I'll admit that its nice to know what Jack's tattoos say (is that really what Matthew Fox's tattoos say?), but was this a burning question for anyone. I'm not complaining about Bai Ling flitting around the screen in skimpy outfits for part of the episode, but we knew that Jack got his tattoos in Phuket. I didn't think we really needed to see how he got them (and to see him be an asshole about it, nonetheless). I did like the part where Archura (or whatever her name was) told him to shut up about his dad. More people need to do that.

And way to ruin Cindy's appearance, promo department. Especially given that she didn't say much beyond what was in the teasers. At least the girl was a surprise. It was funny when she asked about Ana Lucia. But now I want to know how does this relate to the Others that Eko and Jin saw walking through the forest, bare-foot and muddied. Or was the bear that they were dragging not the same as the bear the girl had, and there's still another group of people on the island for us to discover and spend a season agonizing over...

And we just spent how long waiting for Kate to freaking choose someone, so they put her with Sawyer, and now they're fighting already!?!?! I feel like this love triangle is being shoved point-first into my eye. Enough!

The last two eps were pretty good, because it was only Juliet flashback 1 and Desmond flashback 2. This is like Jack flashback 8. We need more Hurley or Sayid or I'll even take an Aaron flashback to the womb at this point...

A resounding "boooo" from my section, as well.

So what were the "3 biggest mysteries" that were advertised?
1- How did Jack get his tatoos?
2- Where is Cindy?
3- Where are the people who were kidnapped?

#1 we didn't really about, while #'s 2 & 3 were both kinda' obvious: "they're on the island somewhere".

Next week will be "the one episode everyone will be talking about". Really? That's probably true, because we'll all be bitching that the episode will tell us nothing new, yet it will reveal how Hurley got hired at Mr. Cluck.

I'm listening to last week's podcast now (I like to listen to the podcasts a week out of date so to lessen the risk of spoilers), and even the producers are complaining about the promos talking about answers to the "three Lost mysteries", as they even admitted really we (would) only learn where Jack got his tattoos.

"You guys got backyards??"

This one came up short in about every possible way. Maybe sooner or later we'll see another Other with a "mark" and utter a collective "ooooooooooh." I guess that the thought of Jack and Juliet "working together" to get the trip home as promised by Big Ben might be interesting, but the payoff on that is probably way, way, way down the line. I was trying to figure out how any of the kids even knew Ana Lucia, since they were all snatched up before she asserted herself as Queen of the Tailies.

Over-promising and under-delivering is a good way to alienate viewers. From what I have read, they have already began to shed viewers at a pretty good rate.

Kate's character is starting to really annoy the hell out of me. I'm not sure what's changed because I was fine with it before, but now I just hate seeing her.

It was going to be tough to live up to last week's episode, but they really fell short this week. The best part may have been Jack freaking out on Cindy.

I also realized I'm still not over the loss of Eko.

More Locke. More Sayid. I'm sick of all these other wimps.
Good god, I'm so disappointed. I guess from now on, I'll watch expecting NOTHING to be revealed. Which will guarantee I'll be right, at least.
I'll stick with the show - I have too much invested to stop now - but man, that was so boring.
I bet we get one more season, then the plug will be pulled.

Ditto the non-love for this episode.

It sounds like there should be more to the back story about the tattoos, but count me among the "I DON'T CARE!!!" group.

I kept expecting to hear music from West Side Story, especially when the Sharks...err..her "friends" beat jack up.

So completely underwhelmed with the "marking" as well.

And FINALLY...they ask real questions (i.e. What kind of people kidnap pregnant women, children, and attack crash survivors)...and they just BLOW OFF THE QUESTIONS??? Not even a hint of any reveal, just "here's some stones for your glass house"???

Next week better bring it, or they're going to continue to hemorrhage viewers.

I guess I need it explained to me.

Jack: Gimme tattoo!

Skinny chick: Noooooooooooooo FINE

Thai guys: We hate you now. We beat you up.

Marcellus Wallace: Your Thailand privileges are hereby revoked.

Because.....he got tattoos? What?

Also, was he tired of boning the chick?

I usually DVR the show & watch it over the weekend. But last night I thought "hmm, mysteries revealed? I'll have to stay up & watch this one". Looking back, I really could have waited for the weekend on this one.

So what's the deal with the branding?

The way I interpreted it, was that the "tattoo ritual" was restricted to "native" people. Jack, an outsider, basically forced her to tattoo him out of his own selfish needs. Jack exploited her gift in order to get some "cool" tat's. Also, the "leader Thai guy" was the girl's brother.

At this point, I'm totally on-board with not seeing Jack or the Others again for about a half-dozen episodes. Easiest way for them to be a mystery again is to....well, not show them. Let's spend loads more time with the gang on the beach, who we actually care about.

It wasn't exactly a bad episode but it was very poorly timed. They needed to build off of the storylines & characters back at the beach. If any casual fan had come back after hearing about the awesomeness of the Desmond episode, they probably said WTF !?!

I will say that Juliet's smile on the boat at the end definitely began the turning of Jack into one of The Others.

Having finally watched the episode lastnight, I can say that I've now figured out why I really don't care for the show anymore.

I blame the Others.

The show was perfectly fine and exciting before they started introducing all those 'Other' characters and just centered on the original survivors. I think this is also why people are starting to give up on the show because it was better when we didn't know what the fuck was going on and everything was a big mystery. 'What's in the hatch?', 'What is the monster?', 'Who are the Others?'... these were all things that we asked that kept viewers coming back week to week to watch, and now that we know and they keep showing us what the mystery is, it's not fun anymore.

The viewers really forced their hand with revealing the mysteries though, because of the '24' mentality that we need nonstop action every show. I like the slow build, but it seems like they feel as if they have to answer something every week now. Maybe they have to answer some before they ask us more ... but maybe they should just listen to Bobby Knight. If you listen to the people in the bleachers you eventually end up sitting with them.

Likewise. We watched it last night and were relatively underwhelmed. Not really upset, mind you, but not impressed. I tire easily of Jack episodes and I think we get his motivations for the most part.

I don't agree with you on this....if anything, Lost needs to provide some actual closure on a lot of its plot points before it moves onto other stuff. For example, they had that awesome episode about Desmond's future flashes, but it didn't really explain how he got them, or exactly why he's getting them or what they mean. Or last ep, when they showed Cindy and the kids were ok, but nothing about what they've been doing for the last month or why they're cool about being with the Others.
