Just....wow. Great episode this week. Jack is finally revealed as Claire's half-brother. Claire looks supercalifrajelistic with dark hair, too! Definitely good to see Christian making another appearance - with the speculation about Claire and Jack, I had the feeling that he was the "American doctor" and secret benefactor. Desmond saves Charlie again, and its nice that Claire knows all about it - finally, people are sharing information. What a sight...Jack playing football with Tom...Mr. Friendly hisself. Poor Mikhail, though - sorry dude. Did they ever put him together with the glass eye that was found in the Tailies hatch, way back when? Locke is on a mission - I am totally looking forward to next week's backstory...no Hurley at all this week....but then again, no Paolo, so its a fair trade.

Did Eko ever mention that glass eye to Locke? Cuz if not, I doubt they're going to tell Bernard about the one eyed guy.
Its funny how the last few weeks have been so improved without angsty Jack to drag the show down, and now it seems we're back to having him around. I did like the touch of him playing football with Tom.
I was spoiled on Claire and Jack, but I thought it was pretty well telegraphed back in Two For the Road, so it wasn't too surprising anyway. Claire did look quite nice with the dark hair. I'm glad that Desmond revealed to her his visions - we don't need Charlie and Claire being any more unnecessarily angsty because of a stupid secret. Her idea to use the birds was impressive, but I can't imagine that a sheet of paper will survive a long distance ocean trek. Still, its a better idea than a giant SOS on the ground.
Well, now we know what question they are going to answer next week. The revelation that Locke knew about the C4 and still detonated the building is interesting. He's always a better character when he has his own agenda. I wonder how this quest fits in with doing the island's bidding.
You believe me, don't you? Please believe what I just said...
Um...I think the SOS thing is the better idea, at least in real life. I am pretty sure the survival guidebooks would agree. Trying to capture a bird, hoping it was tagged, attaching a message to it, and hoping that message finds somebody, and have that somebody actually act on that and not think it is a joke would be a long shot.
The Bored are already here. Idle hands are the devil's workshop. And no... we won't kill dolphins. But koalas are fair game.

You need those Jack episodes to build to these episodes. The Jack scene was really well done though even if his touchdown dance was sorry.
This episode was just great. We got conformations on things we thought we knew. We got some character development. Plus we got Locke acting like a wing nut again and we were this close to having the Russian spill the beans about Locke's past.
Sayid is onto Locke and I think Kate is catching on too. I would really like a Sayid/Locke confrontation, but I don't think we'll get one. It looks like Locke wants some more of Ben for making him freak out in the hatch.
All of that and we get what looks to be a big time John Locke episode next week. This is just fantastic television.
Could it be that sometime in the past, Dharma brainwashed Locke and has been controlled him this entire time on the island? When he feels the Island is speaking to him, it could be just some implanted signal response that makes him do crazy stuff (like destroy Sayid's radio, destroy the hatch, destroy the communications area). I don't know - there are pieces that don't fit, but wouldn't that be a bitch? This whole time, Locke thinks he's on some amazing spiritual quest that will lead to The Answers, but instead he's being controlled. Talk about a twist!
Also, I'm wondering what the perimeter fence was all about? I mean, it was very tall, but easily overcome by humans. Was it really for polar bears, or maybe something worse? Maybe Smokey can't get past it?

Also is Jack's dad the man behind the curtain and will he pull a full Darth Vader turn? Or is he to drunk?
Except....he's dead. And one of the few things that Lost has been clear about in regards to the island's powers is that it can heal (i.e. Rose's cancer, Locke's paralysis) but it cannot heal fatal injuries (i.e. the U.S. marshall's wounds from the crash, the few tailies that died of disease) or bring back the dead. Jack's dad was unmistakably dead. He only appeared on the island in Jack's vision, and it's been speculated that that was the smoke monster in disguise. It's possible Christian Shepherd was a Dharma agent of some sort, but I don't think he's actually coming back in full form on the island.
I really liked this episode, and I really hope next week's is even better. Fans have been waiting to see how Locke lost his legs for two and a half years now, so hopefully the writers have something awesome planned.
I don't know what is more disquieting -- the fact that the rest of the statue is missing, or that it has four toes.
So if Christian is really dead, where's his body? Remember Jack finding the empty casket? Plus, since Claire did not get Christian's name, how will she and Jack ever put two-and-two together? They can't - unless Christian walks into a scene and they both yell "daddy."

Unless they find the body.
The Others know all. My bet is on Ben knowing, just as they know everything else that they always seem to know.
So what purpose other than making another "6 degrees of Kevin Bacon" connection does having Jack & Claire be half bro/sis ? Does it advance the story at all ?
No Hurley - Boo.....No Paulo & Nicki - yeah !
Locke obviously does not want anyone on the island to know he was paralyzed and he is willing to kill & destroy to keep it that way.
Jack's TD dance betrayed his Ivy League Football Roots - he's not brainwashed yet but obviously Juliet's secret smile on the boat a few episodes back had deeper meaning than we gave it
So how soon before the Dharma GullHawk comes racing out of the sky and kills the tagged seagull ?
is it Wednesday yet ?

I kind of figured that was just to throw a bone to the audience. "ooh...I figured something out!" It may or may not have significance later...it doesn't necessarily need to, just another "everything ties together" thing.
As for the gull, I was waiting for it to explode. Kind of nice not to have everything be a swerve.
Also, count me among the crowd that the "fence" wasn't to keep humans out. If it was...very poor design, as it was defeated by a TREE.
I'm hoping the Locke/Ben confrontation is worth the wait.
I'm guessing that in a few weeks, it will be revealed that regular people can walk through the perimeter and no harm will come to them. It only harms people (and animals) that have special "Dharma Chips" implanted in them. Or something like that.
Which begs the question: "so why would a Dharma Chipped person not try to climb over it?" Probably a reason for that..like they're complete tree huggers and don't want to damage the island. Or else there's a stricter security measure for keeping people around the barracks. Like guys with guns.
Also, I watched this episode on ABC.com's new video player thingie. Much better than any Youtube or WMV stuff. Of course, now that I downloaded and installed the app, it's probably cleverly disguised spyware, sending all my info to ABC's marketing research department.
