No one else could sell that slogan: Brut! It smells like a man!

A classy rep for the WWF during this Sunday show. He has been missed for a long time.

I was never able to see Alfred wrestle, but my childhood is full of memories of Alfred calling matches and shilling WWF Ice Cream Bars and IcoPro.

RIP, Lord Al.

My favorite memory of Lord Alfred Hays is when he briefly turned quasi-heel around the same times Shawn Michaels did when he broke up the Rockers.

"The magnificent Shawn Michaels [will take on] the vastly inferior Marty Jannetty..."

Rest in Peace, your Lordship.

That's too bad...it would have been nice to see him inducted into the Hall of Fame...maybe posthumously?

But at least he and Gorilla get to do some catching up now...

RIP...

Some of my first WWF childhood memories are of Lord Alfred Hayes in the control room doing the weekend shows.

RIP.

"From the pages of World Wrestling Federation magazine -- here's Update!"

I always liked Lord Alfred. Except for his stint providing awful heel color commentary for the AWF.

Sad indeed.

Ah...One of the many images inprinted in my head symbolizing the ol' WWF days. Odd that I was just wandering over his profile on obsessedwithwrestling.com just a couple days ago...

RIP.

I'll have to do some digging around for some old Coliseum tapes from the 80s at the local flea markets. Alfred had some amazing stuff on them.

I've seen the following movies this year:

Coach Carter; Star Wars III; Batman Begins; Fantastic Four

"Yipes Stripes!"

RIP--Alfred. Man, I have so many memories, I have no clue where to begin. Like some of you mentioned, I loved how Alfred brought an sense of class to the matches and programming; I really enjoyed his calm demeanor and real knowledge of the characters.

I must say though, he had some of my favorite WWF lines/moments, ever...ahem...

From TNT, Hogan, Vince, and Alfred are making "Python Power" shakes and Hogan decides to add a 3rd scoop of the protein powder
Alfred: Hehehe, three! (It's just me, but I thought the way he said it was funny).

Andre the Giant coming down the aisle to make sure Bobby Heenan keeps away from the Big Bossman during his IC title match with Perfect @ WMVII
Alfred: WOOOOOAAAAAAAAH!!!

And my favorite, from SummerSlam '91 after Bret Hart beat Perfect for the IC and goes to celebrate with his late parents, Stu and Helen. Alfred is gripping the forearm of Stu and trying to get his attention...
Alfred: Mr. Hart, Mr. Hart, may I have a word with you about your son?
Stu: It's wonderful, I a...(at this point Alfred just turns away as Stu keeps going on for a couple seconds).
Alfred: As you can see, he's a little bit speechless. Back to you, Gorilla!

Mmmmm...now that is a tasty burger!

God bless the men of 2nd Bn, 127th Inf, 32d "Red Arrow" Brigade, WI Army Nat'l Guard...good luck, and come home soon.

I still remember his titillating sideline reporting on the erecting (huh huh huh) of the blue-bar steel cage prior to the Warrior/Rude WWF title match @ SummerSlam 1990.

Of course, I'm still equally intrigued that that PPV had a freakin' INTERMISSION.

You will be missed, Lord Hayes. RIP.

Yes, Russo did, in fact, pretty much kill off the X Division. With a lot of help from Siaki -- who isn't bad, but he doesn't belong in the X Division.
