| #1 Posted on 13.4.06 0123.29 | Instant Rating: 4.38 | I'm hoping that there are some W's out there with dedicated web server experience that can help me out here. I'm in the market for good, reliable, and inexpensive dedicated hosting. I will be running an Internet TV station (cross your fingers for me) and I hope to have as many concurrent users as possible. I'll settle for 500 for now while I'm getting started.
I've done most of the math already to see what I need to be able to support 500 concurrent users 24/7. I'm looking for a minimum of 100mbits upstream bandwidth and unmetered transfer. Technically, I "only" need about 30,000gb of transfer, but as far as I can tell, that amounts to unmetered transfer since every METERED plan I've seen has maxed out below 10,000gb.
I've seen a handful of plans for 100mbit/unmetered starting as low as $200/month and some plans for 1gbit/unmetered around $1000/month. The thing is, I'm not sure how reputable any of these services are. So, anybody have any input on the matter? Thanks!

You may want to check with the guys that are running Ravetrax.com - they have an IRC Channel that they are usually in on Friday nights while they are spinning live. You might be able to get some pointers from them - they were in the same range as what you are talking about and they do live video / audio streams on the weekends. They used to, anyway.

| #5 Posted on 13.4.06 2124.32 | Instant Rating: 4.38 | Thanks everyone for all the advice so far. Right now I'm leaning towards WebHostingWith.us. I've seen a little bit of good feedback about them, and they have offices located in my city, so at the very least I should be able to barge in and raise a ruckus if I'm having problems. (=
Zundian, I have seen fdcServers, and they do have prices in my range. In fact, they seem to have the best prices around. However, I've also seen them receive a TON of negative feedback. Apparently they have problems with too much downtime as well as poor customer service - two things I just cannot deal with.
