Last night during Smackdown, they played a commercial for the upcoming Smackdown house shows in Kansas City that was all Eddie Guerrero. Not even talking about his matches (though there was some footage) but just hyping the man himself. Kansas City doesn't exactly have a large Hispanic population, so it looks to me like they're focusing on Eddie as one of the main draws at the house shows. I'm tempted to attend my very first WWE event, now, just on the prospect of seeing Eddie & Brock go at it.

Also, what does everyone get as the commercial for Smackdown from their local UPN affiliate? UPN MORE 62 out of KC shows Edge, HHH, Kurt Angle (still with hair) and The Rock, 3 of which aren't currently on Smackdown and the other of which I didn't even recognize for quite awhile because I forgot he wasn't always bald. Considering it's just 4 short video clips with voice over, it couldn't possibly cost them more than $20 and half an hour to make an updated one...

Here in New York, we usually get the ads that hype up just one guy, but sometimes it's a couple guys. The recent ones I can remember just off the top of my head were of Eddie, Cena, Brock, Hogan, and Mr. America. Others I've seen highlighted Rey, Edge, Benoit, and maybe one or two others, with the voiceover saying something like "Come see the most exciting athletes on broadcast television....LIVE!"

They've been running similar ads with Chris Jericho for the upcoming Raw show here (Penn State - February 2nd) since near the first of the year, I think. It's mostly along the lines of a generic "I'm the King of the World and you're not" type promo. The baffling thing, to me anyway, is that they're advertising this show as the first Raw at Penn State in three years. A Google search of the slashwrestling.com archives confirms that the Raw/Smackdown draft was held here on March 25, 2002 - Click Here (slashwrestling.com). Not quite sure how that equals out to three years, but yeah, I do agree that the setup of the commercial is intriguing enough to make me wish I had tickets, too.

Just before the Mohegan Sun show, they were running Eddie Guerrero and Kurt Angle ones. And I think the ads up here are just recaps of what happened last week, so they're on point when it comes to developments. Either that or they're just feeds from just down 95.

The other commercial I've seen in the State College area is the Goldberg one where we are supposed to "Believe the Hype".

Is that Jericho one the same I saw with the Raw Roulette music in the background. I actually like that one, he sounded so confident and full of himself. LoL

smark/net attack wienerville advisory is lowered to YELLOW alert - Elevated (Due to Lesner still being champ, Benoit winning the Rumble, but HHH as champ is still a threat) 1/27

Get your WWE CD copy autographed by Stone Cold Steve Austin, Chris Jericho, Trish Stratus and Lilian Garcia after Raw... Oh MY! Christmas has come late. Can't get better then that.

For what it's worth, the spots they've been running on TSN up here have been promoting a Lesnar vs. Angle vs. Guerrero three way match...and with Guerrero believed to be getting the No Way Out title shot, I guess it's reasonable that he'd be heavily hyped for the house show circuit.

The Score's spots for SmackDown are always The Rock, which makes sense because he has a big fanbase in Canada. Other than that, it's usually Rey Mysterio and some combination of Canadian wrestlers. Oh, and we get a lot of Cena here, too.

I'm not totally sure if it was the Raw Roulette music. I didn't realize the Raw Roulette shows had their own music (oops!). I'd compare this commercial to the Kurt Angle spots they were running awhile ago that looked (and sounded) like the old NFL films promos, but conducted in first person. They're definitely much more attention-grabbing [and more persuasive, IMO] than the usual "here's some background clips of wrestling while we tell you the event specifics" spots.

The local spot for SD! in Tacoma, WA has John Cena rapping about something. I don't understand his hippity hop (kidding) and all that stuff. It is kinda nice to see that again. Kinda like the old school days when they announced their tours with that airplane flying across the screen to start it off....

Lashley is getting the Jesus push so Regal/Burchill are toast. I see Juvie/Kash ending with a DQ win for Juvi. I mean he just got the CW title back so him dropping it again doesn't make sense.
