I decided to go see Smackdown instead of Raw, and that was kind of a mistake. Anyways

DARK MATCH
Rico d. Jamie Noble with a modified backbreaker.
Noble was on fire in this one, which was probably one of the best matches of the night. This really should have been on Velocity.

VELOCITY
Hardcore Holly and Billy Gunn d. Akio and Sakoda via Alabama Slam. Nothing too exiciting, but notyhing offensively bad.

Mark Jindrak d. Tyson Dux with a Full Nelson Slam.
Total squash. Odd thing is that Dux apparently hurt himself as he had to be helped to the back, and I'm guessing it wasn't a work because there was no reason for him to be selling the leg.

Rikishi and Scotty 2 Hotty d. The FBI by Rikishi Samoan Drop. Another "eh" match.

SMACKDOWN
HHH's music starts us off, but instead of HHH, Angle comes out. Angle announces himself the GM opf Smackdown and announces that he has traded HHH for the Dudley Boyz and Booker T. Booker T comes out and cuts a suprisingly heelish promo about how he feels he's better than the Smackdown roster.

RVD d. Charlie Haas with a rollup. Okayish match except for RVD's somewhat random selling, although he did seem to be trying for the first time in a while. Finish saw Haas rip off the turnbuckle pad only to get caught in an RVD rollup.

Rene Dupree d. Kidman with a Falcon Arrow. In possibly the most important trade yet, FIFI~ HAS BEEN TRADED TO SMACKDOWN! Dupree debuted a new robe and tights. About as exciting as you could expect a Dupree/Kidman match to be.
John Cena comes out afterwards to cut a mildly funny rap on Dupree, welcoming him to Smackdown. Apparently deez nuts is his new catchphrase.

Backstage, Eddie greets the new Smackdown superstars, and him and Booker T have a verbal confontatation that leads to a pull-apart brawl. Good stuff from Eddie.

Dudleyz d. The Bashams via 3D. Bland as all hell, but thhere was pretty good heat for it.

Booker T goes to GM Angle's office and gets himself a title shot, TONIGHT!

Chavo d. Spike Dudley with a Gory Special Backbreaker. Dudleyz decide to stay ringside for this one. Chavo Sr. is so awesome in his role. First better than average match of the night, as it was given some time and Spike was given a decent amount of offence.

Theodore Long offers his services to Too Cool in a funny little throwaway skit. Teddy might be turning face, since he wasn't doing his usual heel schtick.

Brad$haw comes out with new music and a new suit and tie. He basically explains that he's in it for himsaelf for now, and that's why he left Faarooq.

Edddie d. Booker T via DQ. Finish saw Edddie hit the Frog Splash, but then BRADSHAW ran in to beat down Eddie. They're pushing BRADSHAW. FUCKING BRADSHAW. IN A MAIN EVENT PROGRAM. Good match although a little sleeper heavy and the ending left a bad taste in my mouth. Post-match Eddie gets his revenge on Bradshaw and celebrates in his low-rider.

I might be out of sequence or missed somne stuff, but I did this pretty much from memory.

I have a feeling this show is gonna look very mediocre on TV as it was pretty much a storyline advancement show. The fact that one of the storylines is Bradshaw getting a big push, doesn't excite me too much. No Taker and Mysterio and very little Cena was a pretty big disappointment.

Well, I knew they'd go back to pushing Bradshaw. Remember 2 years ago they pushed him hard, teaming him with Kane, mixing it up with Kevin Nash. He was actually one of the top faces for that month, and they even had him cleanly pin Big Show on a UK tour. He has potential, he has the personality and look. I think he just needs the right storyline to get him to the top, and I guess this could be it.

Bradshaw's got potential? You've gotta be shitting me. He's been in WWE for eight years, yet I defy you to name a quality match he's had.

They also have two months before the next SmackDown PPV and probably feel that they need to fill the time a bit - so they feed Bradshaw to Eddy.

Now, if Bradshaw v. Eddy is the main event at Judgment Day, we have a problem.

After reading the spoilers, it looks like Bradshaw has taken on a personna completley different than anything he has ever done. I'm not saying the guy is the next Rock or anything, but if the creative team can augment his personality and channel it into a successful gimmick, then I'm all for it. You haven't even seen his new character yet, how can you automatically decide he has no potential when you havent even seen him in his current role? Since when is having quality matches a prerequisite for being a top guy in the company?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! I like the push of a heel Booker T but Bradshaw?! I knew this would happen, I knew as soon as he turned heel he would become Smackdowns top heel. Is he seriously blowing Vince? This totally reminds me of the Hardcore Holly push and look how good that turned out.

Actually, they prefer to call it Sports Entertainment. The WWE is now barley starting to introduce a more work rate based presentation, but up until the recent past, many top tier guys haven't had quality matches in years.

Didn't we say the same thing when BOB HOLLY got pushed to the main event?

If seniority's leading to pushes, expect Billy Gunn to get his main event push any day now.

Quality matches aren't determined purely upon being the best techincal wrestler or having a technical match. It implies matches that are dramatic, entertaining, captivating, whatever you want to call it, but something that draws the crowd in and makes you feel like you've just seen something great and not mediocre. Yes, in a match there has to be actual wrestling involved and not just random brawling, but even by that definition it doesn't entail constant technical/mat wrestling. And maybe I'm wrong, but judging by the televised audiences and the responses on this board, aside from his inital stint in the APA, Bradshaw has never exceeded in having memorable or "quality" matches. And as far as your claim of top tier guys not having quality matches in years? What were all of those Austin, Rock, Foley, Triple H, Angle, Jericho, Hart, Michaels matches to you then? Maybe we just have different standards. Granted there were things like Nash and Vicious along the way, but if you look at the names of the stars who propelled recent wrestling to greater popularity, they obviously had the charisma and "it" but it would've been nothing if they weren't able to prove it in the ring with "quality matches".

...hopefully Bookerīs heel turn(?)/push leads to something big for Rob too!?

I guess weīll have to wait and see...

By the way: Thank god - Triple H is back on Raw! If RVD and Booker donīt make it now then they never ever will!

Why does everyone think that the mere presence of HHH on the same show as Booker/RVD was 'holding them down'? Maybe the fact that they're not all that good anymore (and RVD wasn't all that good to begin with) is 'holding them down'. And since the same people are writing the television for both sohws, why should you think Booker and RVD's pushes are going to change now that they've moved shows? This isn't like they're jumping promotions to a new booker, a new writer, and a new fanbase.

Granted, I haven't seen the show yet, but from reading the spoilers, I don't know where all the dissapointment is coming from. Is Bradshaw getting a main-event program? Yes, but I'd be VERY suprised if this wasn't a quick thing. Remember, they have until May before there is another SmackDown PPV. So, while they're building up other guys, they need someone to feed to Guerrero. So, let Bradshaw be that guy. Booker T seems to have turned heel, which should be a good thing in refreshing his career. Sure, they don't seem to be pusing RVD to the main-event right away. But, how do you push a guy with a lot of in-ring skill (in my opinion, at least) and not a whole lot of mic skill? You push him IN THE RING. Give him a bunch of wins, and then put him in an upper-card position. No ones taking the title off of Guerrero any time soon, so why push new guys straight to the top, when it just means that they'll get jobbed out immediatley. It's better to just let them simmer at first. Plus, a few of the matches on the show look pretty good.

Well, I'll wait until Thursday to pass judgment.

I like when people make sense, and you my friend make sense. Not only does Booker have better mic skills, but he has much much more experience in a main event scene than RVD does. So, it is entirely logical for Booker to be pushed before RVD, because he is more likely to do well in that position. RVD is definately a guy who needs either a good mouthpiece to get over or be given a string of matches where he not only looks good but shows off what he can do (without repeating the same goddamn spots 50 million times, I hope).
As far as Bradshaw goes, I doubt WWE would repeat the Holly Experiment with him. The only reason they did that was because it was the ROYAL RUMBLE, and a very compelling WWE Title feud was not necessary due to the strength of the card in other spots. Hell, Los Guerreros' match got more play on TV than Lesnar/Holly. There's no way in hell Bradshaw will still be a contender by the next PPV, he is just being better positioned as an upper-midcarder singles wrestler rather than as a midcard tag wrestler. I can see him going after Cena's title once Eddie is done whuppin his ass, which don't really matter anyway, Cena's got bigger fish to fry than the US Title later this year.

David Spade teaches us an Important Lesson:

Joe Dirt: So you're gonna tell me that you don't have no black cats, no roman candles, or screaming mimis?
Kicking Wing: No.
Joe Dirt: Oh come on man. You got no lady fingers, fuzz buttles, snicker bombs, church burners, finger blasters, gut busters, zippity do das, or crap flappers?
Kicking Wing: No, I don't.
Joe Dirt: Yer gonna stand there, owning a fireworks stand, and tell me you don't have no whistling bungholes, no spleen spliters, whisker biscuits, honkey lighters, hoosker doos, hoosker don'ts, cherry bombs, nipsy daisers, with or without the scooter stick, or one single whistling kitty chaser?
Kicking Wing: No... because snakes and sparklers are the only ones I like.

You want reasons?
Here we go:

RVD had one of the best debuts in WWE history (imo)! His match with Jeff Hardy at Invasion was fantastic and the fans cheered him like crazy from the start! Even while he was supposed to be a heel! You knew right then that heīs something special!

Jeff and Rob had a (ladder) rematch at Summerslam and it was good enough to push him into the Main Event at No Mercy (his fourth WWE PPV). Once again he deliverd!

Then: Triple H had his big comeback and in his first match back (Rumble) he pedigreed Van Dam which led to his elimination. RVD got one of the biggest pops that night and lasted only about two or three minutes!!

RVD became IC, HC and Tag champ, he unified the HC and EC title, as well as the EC and IC title, but never won the big one.

It took months before he was given his next world title shot at Unforgiven. What happened? He had to lay down. For Triple H! No rematch!

Then he challenged HBK on Raw for that same golden belt. What happened? Triple H interfered and therefore became the new #1 contender and later once again champ. No rematch for Rob!

You see: RVD hasnīt had too many chances to shine as far as Main Events or world titles are concerned, but every time he stepped up one man knocked him down: Triple H!

As far as the writers are concerned: What are they supposed to write for guys like Van Dam or Booker, considering the fact that the main focus and the world title HAVE TO stay on Triple H anyhow?
I guess the answer is: Let īem defend the tag belts at Mania in a fucking Fatal4way!

So they made a big deal of drafting Mark Jindrak to Smackdown ... and now they stick him on Velocity? ...

I like the Booker T heel turn ... maybe he'll get Teddy next week.
