On my way to Raw tonight, I was wondering whether I'd end up being the centre of a riot or something. After all, I was certainly going to have to cheer for my boy Triple H. (Ringmistress, you have just completely thrown him over for Kurt Angle, haven't you?)
Well I get there, & there are more Triple H shirts in my section than everybody else's put together. Come posedown time, we cheered, we clapped, we screamed (well, some of us did) -- we marked out & we had a great time.
I watched some strategic parts of the tape when I got home. The sound guy was definitely a busy camper, trying to balance out the crowd, especially during the posedown segment. Steiner absolutely got good pops too, but there were lots of places where the volume was turned way down on the Triple H love. It was fun!! :-)
One of the inside jokes was that the judges were actually the 6 guys who had done the 2 dark matches at the beginning of the night. The sound guy apparently was also pretty busy washing out the crowd popping for them.

Actually, I have thought about throwing him over for Kurt, but let's say that as of now, there's no chance in Hell that'll happen! Still I enjoy Kurt too, so he's on the back burner until we get rid of Dawn, Al and Torrie. Oh, HOW I ENVY YOU! I didn't even know you were going to Raw last night. I hope you guys put in a good cheer for HHH.... I know I did.
Yes, live is good, especially tapings! But I didn't go to the Cow Palace show last Friday, alas. When you're tapped out from Christmas, the timing's not right. I'm glad you got an opportunity!
Well, the posedown was funny, but HHHimself did NOT need that extra 15-20 pounds he's just put on. He had slimmed down and I was hoping he would resist the temptation to pump up again. And what has he been bathing in? Blackstrap molasses? Damn, if that was an actual tan-bed tan and not bottle brown, it would qualify as first-degree burns. O_o
His promos have improved somewhat, though. Apparently he's realized that a heel needs to be a jerk, not the coolest guy on the show...

Well I'll wave to Kurt for you tonight then too. (Out of that little group, Charlie's looking pretty cute on my TV. I'll be sure to report back on that, as well.)
Its not clear at this point whether I'll have any voice back by this evening -- yes, we put in a whole lot of cheering for HHH -- and for everybody else, too. (Like I said, the audio guy was busy turning us down, big time. Seriously.) When HHH did the side bicep away from the cameras, y'all thought it was for the judges, but in fact it was for ME-ME-ME-ME-ME!!
The funniest part about that whole segment was what a great parody of real bodybuilding competitions it was. Hey, that judging panel was as unbiased as any other set of bodybuilding judges. :-)
So from the Smackdown taping on Tuesday (Its such a bitch being awash in wrestlers.) where I was in row 2 ...
I skillfully managed to avoid being on your TVs altogether, which made me happy.
Watching the broadcast, I realised that John Cena's cute little dog collar was actually the headband that he'd been wearing in his earlier segment. Very nice look for him -- accentuates his neck & shoulders. Arf.
Charlie is my new favourite-est cutie little boy. He's good looking on TV, but he's just a killer-cute baby in person.
Last time I saw a live Smackdown-cast house show, I mentioned that I like Billy Kidman much better in person than on TV. I'm liking him on TV, & he's still better in person.
I think I actually prefer the slightly goofier Kurt than the grr-grr one that we have right now. Its a pity that the camera couldn't catch the pieces of crutch flying off into the crowd -- one piece pretty much ended up in the audience back by the stage.
What else was fun that they guys would go "ewww" at ?
I was glad they didn't televise the scary ugliness that happened live with Albert after Paul-n-Paul didn't come out at the end. (Gory details here.) I haven't heard anything, & am taking the "no news == good news" perspective. That put a damper on the fun of the rest of the evening, but it really was fun up til that.
Being right there is a trip. There are some weird aspects to sitting that close at a TV taping though. It seems like a lot of the show is (literally) going over your head. The guys do a lot of the "acting & emoting" stuff toward the level of the fixed cameras. In a way, its rather like sitting in the orchestra pit. On the other hand, they're right there, which does have its own coolness to it.
I was overall pretty happy with it too. That whole "meeting (or exceeding) expectations" thing that Ringmistress mentioned over on the main forum really is a key point. I think everything in the first hour-n-a-half (through Team Angle)
