Ohhh Yeah!

The spanish announcers confirmed last week the rumors about the inminent visit of the wwe to the Northern City of Monterrey Mexico...

The show will be placed in the brand new Arena Monterrey, and seems to be a great show for all the fans of the wwe in Mexico... I hope that the roster that they sent include a good battle...

In Mexico the WWe have a strong fan base, specially in the northern citys, by the way, the local Lucha magazines have told that there are rumors of future TNA and Ring Of Honor Shows taped in mexico... that will be great!

Man! im excited, i have to have the tickets for that show, even if i have to drive from Mexico City to Monterrey ... i really hope that the WWE give us at least one decent match, after all, the show its announced to play at April 3.. thats just a few Weeks from WMXX...

Hey!, Any of you have a clue of what we possibily see in a RAW show outside the states?

Cheers

I hate to rain on your parade but it's just a RAW Brand House Show on a Saturday.

You'll probably get the same type of card as every other RAW house show.

What I don't understand is why the RAW Brand is going instead of the Smackdown Brand considering Eddy and Rey are on that show.

Maybe they'll be smart and put Chris Jericho, Val Venis, and Chris Benoit in a feature match.

Hey..

Excuse my ignorance but what's exactly a RAW Brand House Show? Its the same show that we see every week ? or its something poorly?

Yeah!
If they send Jericho, (aka Lion Heart) or Cris Benoit (aks Pegassus Kid) the show will be great... the fans still remember that guys and his feuds with the CMLL wrestlers...

In the other hand, Rey its one of the the most popular star here, he is well know and respected in center and north arenas... but the fans never forget the fact that he lose his mask here in mexico about 7 years a go and he keeps using it...anyway, in places like Tijuana Mexico, Rey Misterio is God...
About Eddie, well, we all know that he is great, but all the fans of lucha knows that he is more american than Ronald Mcdonald.. Eddie and all his breed was born and grow in the states... so i dont see the big deal

You might want to look at this thread (The W), where we were talking about SmackDown house shows. All the basic information applies.

Hey Emma!

Thanx for the advice...

Personally i dont care a fuck if this show its a televised event, if we are going to see good matches will be great for me...

I only hope that wwe bring at least 2 or 3 matches with the top superstars in the roster...

Will be great if somehow we can see a crossover match between WWE and CMLL wrestlers as a preliminar event...

thanx again

cheers

They might fly Rey, Eddie and Chavo down for the show like they do Canadian wrestlers when one brand is touring Canada.

I'm guessing that they're just testing the crowd with this particular house show. If it does well and the fans are loud, etc., you can bet they'll consider bringing televised events there.

As it is, I bet it will still be a good show. The wrestlers will likely put on a better show than they do when they hit, say, Genericsville, USA, but because they know this is a new market. And I can totally see them using either Rey or Eddie or both as special guests...

Prelim, prelim, hmmm. Because they don't bring in Japanesse guys for those shows, I strongly doubt they'd let CMLL guys on the show, even though that could be oodles of fun, but I haven't even thought of what would work as a match.

Just using uncard throw away stuff, fun matches that wouldn't mean anything, off the top of my head

Super Porky & Atlantis vs Rosey & Hurricane
Booker T vs El Hijo de Lizmark
Val Venis vs Rayo De Jalisco

Naaaaaaah. The RAW roster doesn't really get me going for WWE/CMLL matchups as SmackDown - like I'd be thrilled to see GdI versus any number of SmackDown tag teams (though Haas/Shelton would be the best-est) but I can't think of any team in particular from RAW that I'd want.

They might fly Rey, Eddie and Chavo down for the show like they do Canadian wrestlers when one brand is touring Canada.

They did do that with Tajiri in one of the first recent Japan RAW tours, but haven't kept it up or gone that way in particualr. They seem to have focusing more on pusing the WWE itself for ticket buying than any individual star.

I wonder if Dragon will show? He doesn't seem to be working many SmackDown! house shows (which might be a reason he's not pushed); it may be a situation where he's working in his Mexico City gym and wouldn't have far to go anyway. And people still seemed to remember him when he was around for shows before he went WWE.

I'm guessing that they're just testing the crowd with this particular house show. If it does well and the fans are loud, etc., you can bet they'll consider bringing televised events there.

The problem with that is they like to have two locations not very far away from each other so they can move the TV stuff from one arena for RAW to another quickly to set up for SmackDown!. (This is why the Northwest got few TV tapings before the laws in Oregon were changed.)

They'd have to get really comfortable going across the border without problems or find another location (Mexico City itself?) to run a second show from before they'd consider it. Time wise, it works a lot better than Japan, but there's still probably logisitcal problems that make it at least a couple years of really good money there (and less money elsewhere), I think.

Hey No doubt!, the show its gonna be a hit, every lucha magazine has announced it... the local network that re - transmit Raw and the PPV's one week later is making noise about that...

And for Monterrey and the Arena (one of the finest and newer places in mexico ) its gonna be a total succes, but some magazines are talking about the ticket prices.. its only a rumor by now but they say that the prices are gonna be from 300 to 30 Dollars...

Man! that prices are really high, if you consider that a front raw ticket for the Pearl Jam Concert in Mexico cost was around 100 bucks last summer...

Superluchas Magazine also announced that sources near to the organization crew told that the WWE anounced a program with top line superstars like bischoff, austin, jericho, rvd and a special host to present the event to mexican fans... they dont know wich one its gonna be, but a member of the Mcmahon family are anounced to be in that show.

Well Rayo, Atlantis, and Brazo de Plata aren't throw away undercarders.

I can't believe you didn't fantasy book Pierroth Jr vs. HHH.

I know I'd be stoked for that, and you would be too.

My real question is how many of the "RAW is Coke, Pain Killers and Roids" stars are gonna make it back accross the US border.

I kind of picture Antifaz waiting at the US border. Steiner gets stopped and has to dump all his needles with Antifaz at deep discount prices.

300 tickets for a ringside seat?!!!?! How many does the arena sit? I've never been to a house show or a televised event (only WMXIX and Summerslam '03) but that seems a bit high. I thought the priciest seats for a house show were about 50 bucks.
If it is the first show in Mexico, I could see the prices being high because the demand would be there. But still, if this is an experiment, they shouldn't try to gouge the public for a house show!

You make an excellent point, Cubs! (tm Michael Cole) There might be an additional complication about insurance, too. (I'm not exactly sure what the deal is, but there's always the discussion of "buying mexican auto insurance" & "don't take rental cars into Mexico" when people talk about driving anyplace non-trivial across the border.) Given that they take something like 20 semi-trucks of stuff (IIRC) to the televised shows, I could see that being a major undertaking.

DrWagner: Just curious, how long a drive would it be for big semi-trucks from Monterrey to Mexico City? Just from maps, it looks like it could be 12-16 hours. Is there any other city big enough (with a nice enough arena) that's under 8 hours drive from Monterrey?

Do we know what they do about the major shows in England? (eg. Insurrexion) That requires enough production stuff to be DVD-worthy. Do they use local production staff & equipment for those? (I don't think I've ever seen one of those -- don't even know if they use a stage, Titantrons, major pyro, etc.)

You may recall that the ringside (keep your chair) seats for SummerSlam'03 were $300. Next price level down from there was $90, & down from there. I could see them doing that same kind of pricing scale in Mexico, just because it's never been there...

I drove from LSU to Monterrey to Mexico City also known as D.F. (Distrito Federal) one spring break and from Monterrey to D.F. was 10 hours straight. Now, the problem I see was that most of the ride was on a one lane or two lane road where 18 wheelers were going over 70MPH easily all the time. Lots of risky driving and roads. Will the WWE risk all the equipment? Doubt it.

About the $300, Monterrey as most of Mexico there is no "middle class" you either are Middle High/Upper/Rich or borderline poverty. So $300 for those who can afford it, especially fans who have never seen WWE live, they will pay for it easily, especially in Monterrey which financially is very secure. Wagner correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what I recall from my visits to both places.

Absolutly right man!

The distance between Monterrey to MX city its about ten to eleven hours in car... and the road isnt good enough... but... Hey we recently have the Cart Series in Mexico city, so... its more than possible bring a wwe event to Mexico city...

Here we have a lot of places good enough to receive a wwe event... The Sport's palace have one pre-season NBA game every year since 1999...

The Foro Sol its bigger than the needs of the wwe, but the place had received concerts suchs as britney spears or u2... and recently the dodgers came here...
Also... MX City hold s the strongest fan base of WWE in the country .. since we have the 2 biggest arenas of Lucha Libre here....

You're right , Monterrey, Mex city and maybe Guadalajara are places were the fans will pay for that front tickets...

By the way... did you drive from Monterrey to MX City to have a spring break vacation? damn! i rather go to cancun or huatulco ... DF isn't the nicest place to have a springbreak vacation... (at least the kind of spring break vacation that american guys usually have) ... but we still have good places to visit like the red city of teotihuacan..

cheers

The short story...drove to UT at Austin, got hammered, decided hell were almost at the border, let's go...went to Monterrey, partied till 6am, we decided hey...if we drive we make it by night to DF...we did, we stayed at a hotel for four bucks at night, worst hotel ever but the fun of doing all this spontenous stuff made it all worthwhile. We almost drove to Acapulco but learned that it was like 150 bucks of tolls each way!

On a CMLL show no but this is the WWE. And it's tougher to fantasy book undercarders in CMLL when no one gets to see 'em, I guess.

I can't believe you didn't fantasy book Pierroth Jr vs. HHH.

That could only truly work if was 2/3 falls and hair/title. Or hair/hair, egads. Somehow Veneno would get pinned, though.

My real question is how many of the "RAW is Coke, Pain Killers and Roids" stars are gonna make it back accross the US border.

Yea, this has all the makings of a "Brian Christopher gets fired from the company because he accidently had 'someone else's' cocaine in his luggage at the border" situation. Someone needs to work up odds on this.
