When do you plan on running for office? It should be easy enough, as long as there are more then 12 jobs available. ;-)

| #3 Posted on 21.1.02 1501.21 | There's only twelve? Damn. I'm registered independent myself, but I cast my votes for Harry Browne and Cala Howell (ran for.. senate? in MA). Massachusetts politics is a nasty thing. I don't have much of a preference between Repubs and Dems, but damn, the political scene here is just STAGNANT. Kennedy for almost half a century. An incredibly lopsided Democratic majority in the senate. I was actually quite surprised, and positively so, at the numbers Carla Howell pulled when she ran for senate a couple years ago. I think she actually tied, or almost tied, the Republican nominee. Lou, what do you think of the upcoming gubernatorial election?

BTW, what part of the Commonwealth are you in? I'm stuck on the Cape myself.

| #5 Posted on 22.1.02 1618.47 | I'm still officially living with the 'rents here in Bridgewater, on the South Shore. Not too far from the cape. I go to school out in Amherst (not Amherst College, but the less prestigious UMass). And I've got nothing good to say about that part of our fine state.
As far as the governor's race, there's quite a few candidates on the Dem side. I don't know if I can list them all, but we've got ex-Clinton cabinet member Robert Reich, ex-Dem. Committee Chairman Steve Grossman, Senate Pres. Tom Birmingham (or is he speaker of the house?), and... uh... I'm sure there's more. Birmingham gave an amusing speech the other day about how MA has been under Republican control for too long. And damn... Robert Reich is SHORT. He can pick up the Dukakis mantle.

| #6 Posted on 23.1.02 2113.44 | | Y'know, I've never lived outside of Massachusetts, except for 6 months where I stayed with my mother in Maine, which used to be part of Massachusetts, and still should be. Anyway, my point is that it's strange, but I can't picture living in any other state. Something seems weird about that to me.
Oh, and I may be living on the Cape right now, but much like the marathon, I call Hopkinton home.

| #9 Posted on 24.1.02 1342.52 | | Hopedale...heh, never actually been there, but I do recall the fact that it spans about 3 seconds on Rt. 85. As soon as you see the entering Hopedale sign, you can already see the exiting Hopedale sign.
As for Maine, thinking back, you can have it. Having been all the way up to Eastport, I don't really wanna go back. The Maine Turnpike has got to be the most boring stretch of highway ever devised by man.

| #12 Posted on 24.1.02 2215.58 | | Trust me here, the old cliche totally applies. It's a nice place to visit, but you don't wanna live here. Our roads were designed by retarded lemurs, so in the summer you have to add an extra 3 hours onto your trips. In the winter, it's cold, wet (we rarely see snow), and everything worth going to closes at 5PM. And I've gotten to the point - after living here since I was 7 years old - where I wanna maim and kill every single goddamned tourist I see. Don't they have rotaries in other states? Even if they don't, don't they have yield signs?!?!?!?!?

| #14 Posted on 25.1.02 0133.33 | | Dude, you ever try driving through Providence, RI? A mass of one way streets. I went to go see a Matthew Sweet concert at Lupo's, and I ended up getting so lost I never made it to the show. I was PISSED. It's been said that the only way to get out of Providence's one way system is to drive around and around it in circles, going faster and faster until you reach an escape velocity and launch yourself out of the city. Of course, you never end up going in the direction you want, so you have to get your bearings and find out where the hell you ended up. Compared to that, Cape roads are a breeze.

| #16 Posted on 25.1.02 1156.42 | Oh, wow, Providence. I got lost going to Lupo's myself. Drove the wrong way down a one way street and then pulled into a bus depot, against the better advice of several traffic signs. Didn't help that there was a cop at the intersection, either. I got lucky though, and he let me off with a verbal warning and some better directions. But damn, Providence is a nuisance.

| #17 Posted on 26.1.02 0726.09 | | Fuck Providence. I wish I could say that if they can't play Boston, then they ain't worth seeing, but I actually managed to find Lupo's when I saw They Might Be Giants and I also found the Met Cafe (which is next door) for my first Moxy Früvous show. I miss the Cape Cod Colosseum. Rush played there once. And Vince McMahon owned it. Right now it's an abandoned Christmas Tree Shops warehouse. When the CTS ditched it, it was rumored that Vince was gonna buy it back and turn it into a training facility for the WWF. So much for Tough Enough: Cape Cod.
