I know Stubbs has been in less-than-good health for a while, but this is a great loss. One of the most powerful voices in all of pop/rock/soul music. So many great hits with the Four Tops, who amazingly stayed together with the same lineup from 1956 until the death of Lawrence Payton in 1997.
He also inspired one of my very favorite songs of all time, "Levi Stubbs' Tears" by Billy Bragg.
"When the world falls apart, some things stay in place. Levi Stubbs' tears run down his face."
