"There was someone doing some "scouting" at the New York Rangers' practice on Monday, but the team wasn't very keen on the idea. And who can blame them?
After all, it was Capitals' winger Alex Ovechkin who decided to observe his opposition from the visitor's bench at Madison Square Garden, just hours before tonight's Game 3 of the Caps/Rangers playoff series. Underdog New York leads the series 2-0.
One of the Rangers' trainers complained to the Capitals, who had a public relations staff member ask Ovechkin to exit the rink. According to the PR man, Ovechkin was just looking for a place to relax.
That wasn't the story from Ovechkin himself, though, who joked that he sat in on Rangers practice to "tick off" head coach John Tortorella."

Your boys in blue need to get their act together so the Bruins can squash them in the second round.

I know the Rangers deserve all the blame for their failure to get the job done, but between that non-call and the fact that they didn't get a power play out of Brashear's punking of Blair Betts, I do have a beef with the officials. The latter was just a case of bad judgement, but I really do think that at least some officials are intentionally ignoring things that happen to Avery, and I hope that the league is doing something about that.
Supersalvadoran, I hope you don't get hosed in your bet because your game ended half an hour after ours did. B^)

| #10 Posted on 29.4.09 0202.09 | Instant Rating: 3.53 | Oh man, you should had seen me tonight. I was watching the game at work and saw the end of the Rangers-Caps game while the Devils were ahead 3-2 after two periods. I was so temped to call my friend and lightly mock him, especially with the Devs holding on to the lead with less than five minutes to go. But then Brodeur had to go into crap mode those last couple of minutes. We were so shocked at the final score. And with the Mets losing again, this was a night to forget. At least I finally get to get Citifield later on today, that should be memorable.

There was a long talk yesterday on HNIC Radio about the "feud" between the Rangers and the League Office, including the fight over the website a couple years ago and other things. The Rangers presumably made no friends by releasing that letter about Game 5 to the media either.
Whether that translates into officials' calls? Who knows?

| #12 Posted on 29.4.09 0722.16 | I turned the devils game off with 4:30 to go disgusted that they were going to advance while my Rangers made their tee times. What a pleasant surprise when I turned on the radio in my car.
I told my wife that Fedorov was going to score as soon as he started in on Redden. I hate myself for knowing that. Rangers had no GO TO guy all year and they were lucky they got as far as they did. if only Henrik hadn't been kidnapped by secret Caps fans within the Obama administration or aliens - whichever - for games 5 & 6.
at least the devils loss was more painful.
