Except that Alec Baldwin's character wasn't clueless. The whole point of why he frustrated Liz Lemon was because Jack Donaghy was really good at his job and was usually right about everything. Gradually, Jack started to lose his touch towards the end of the season and ended up on a somewhat more even keel with Liz Lemon, but he was never clueless. He even outsmarted Will Arnett's character's stupid idea, albeit with what turned out to be an even stupider idea. I love Will Arnett and would love to see him on 30 Rock in a recurring role (or his own show -- why hasn't that happened yet?) but it's way too soon in 30 Rock's existence to suddenly switch Alec Baldwin's character out for one by Will Arnett or anyone else.

Some of us old people still watch it! :)
ANd, besides being in the same hospital and a FEW recurring cast members, its a 100% different show, and its been picking up steam all season long. | Dutchie

Criminal Intent will do its first run on USA and encore run on NBC. Here's the whole story. (multichannel.com)
...For the past six seasons, L&O: CI has run first on NBC and then had its second window on USA. It was unclear at press time precisely when the new schedules for the networks, both of which are owned by NBC Universal, would commence, but USA will get 22 episodes of the show. The series’ move to USA will be accompanied by a lower license fee, according to several published reports. ...

Oy, has it! We've been behind at the rinberg house in watching the episodes for the last few weeks, but the stories have been really good.
One of the Thirty-two (or maybe Thirty-four....)!

Good point, but it is well within the show's satirical world to have a different Vice President of East Coast Television and Microwave Oven Programming every season. Baldwin last season, Arnett this season...who knows, Steve Martin in season three?
Don't get me wrong, I love Baldwin (aside from his parenting skills) and I hope that he stays on the show. I'm just saying that his actual role on the show is surprisingly easy to replace.
