As a Titans fan, this is a sad day ... much of the face of the team was released today.

I know Mason will be picked up pretty quick. He's a solid, reliable receiver that will make some quarterback very happy.

I'd like to see them try and re-sign Kevin Cater if at all possible. He does so much for the community here and it would really sting to see him go.

Any of you guys know anything about the names getting cut from your teams?

Not really a "cut" per se, but the Jags are debating whether to place the franchise tag on S Donovin Darius, or let him go. The price would be about $4.97 million, and owner Wayne Weaver has already said that $5 mil. is too much for a safety. They could try to sign him to a long-term deal, but I don't know. He has improved his pass-coverage (his big weakness), so it might be worth it.

www.theredzone.org used to be a great site for monitoring all this stuff. It seems to be down right now, and I haven't used it since last offseason. Anybody know if it's just temporarily down, or if it's dead?

As of 7:42 am CST today (Tue Feb 22), she's a-workin' just fine.

Oh, and the Packers slapped the transitional player tag (WBAY-TV...my employer) on the greatest tight end since Paul Coffman...Bubba Franks.

The (Newark) Star Ledger is speculating that Derrick Mason could be joining the Jets. They are also reporting that Jay Fiedler has told friends that he would be interested in backing up Chad Pennington if the Fins release him. He's certainly a big step up from Quincy Carter. Lamont Jordan has been given a qualifying offer but the Jets realistically have little hope of getting him to stay.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the Raiders could be making a lot of moves in the next few weeks. They're trying to resign Jerry Porter to a long-term deal, but they won't use the franchise tag on him. Instead, it will probably be placed on Charles Woodson, who they're looking to trade. Guards Ron Stone and Frank Middleton, as well as last year's big (haw haw) free agent signings Warren Sapp and Ted Washington, could be cap casualties.

Interesting. That would reunite him with Heimerdinger, who in my opinion, is a big reason Mason has been so successful. BUT, where does he fit in there? He's definitely not a #3 guy. And do you bump Santana Moss or Justin McCareins down the depth chart?

As a Dolphin fan through and through, if there is someone out there that wants Fiedler, you can freaking have him!!

Mason would easily be the number one guy for the New Jersey Jets.

I found this interesting. They're already selling Drew Bledsoe Dallas Cowboys jerseys. The ink on the contract still isn't dry.

Pats cut Ty Law.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=1999808

The cap number was enormous so I don't know how far they might have been able to get in working a trade, but I hate to see guys go for nothing in return. I think a late 1st round pick could have been had.

It really didn't come as much of a surprise to me. Getting something back woud've been better I agree, but there are not many teams that can take on a $12M cap hit.
