Hi everyone.

As you all know I'm from Canada and currently unemployed looking for work.

I'm wondering if any of you have had experience working from home making legitimate money not involving scams or an introductory fee.

I'm pretty much looking to telecommute. I've got the skills to do phone support, or network support.

Any thoughts?

Thanks everyone.

Try to talk with larger companies at job fairs. The cable company I worked for in San Diego had a program for CSRs to work at home, and it worked OK. You may find that insurance companies, cable companies, utilities, or other large companies with CSR positions in your region may have jobs like this available.

Good luck.

I've heard that airlines are turning to this too. Saw an article about it somewhere a couple of years ago.

A friend of mine was taking incoming order calls for a bunch of stuff you see sold on late night TV. Items included the singing fish and the "Girls Gone Wild" videos. She worked as a subcontractor as opposed to an actual paid employee. I believe she was paid by the number of calls answered.

Any chance you could talk to your friend and find out how she got this job ? I'd LOVE to do things like that.

Thanks!

There's often several Call Centres who offer these programs, as they reduce costs immensly. At Dell (before they shut down our building) had a very successful work from home program. They even had employees form Toronto working form home while the Call Centre was in Ottawa,

Although I don't know any specificaly, I suggest doinf some searches for Call Centres in your area.

You know, I really don't know what to put here. Close your eyes and thank of something funny!

She had a TON of information, actually.

www.westathome.com is one where you're actually an employee.

www.liveops.com is another - you're an independent contractor - they have both incoming and outgoing calls

www.acdd.com is my favorite - but they're hard to get into - you're also an ic here

www.workingsol.com is one I've worked with before - different kinds of clients.

www.cloud10corp.com is fairly new but I've heard good things.

www.arise.com requires you to be a corporation and you have to pay for training... but you get a decent wage...

There's a TON more. 1-800-FLOWERS has WAH professionals, among others... If he wants to get a better "feel" for the environment, I recommend www.workplacelikehome.com message boards. Lots of discussion about different WAH companies and opportunities, what's cool, what isn't, etc.

For a guy with the name Mr Heel, you're a pretty decent guy.

Thanks for the tips and the links and if I get a job, I'll buy you a beer!
