active as of now?
And what is your opinion on how his handed-ness affects
the flow of his match? Does it make him look more
akward? or conversely does it make him look unique and
therefore somewhat cool?

I think that being a lefty kind of adds to his "foreignness" if you see what I mean. Along with his accent it underlines his diffirence and makes him identifable. Also it makes his matches more interesting, since you can't be as sure of what he will do as you would a right-handed wrestler.

| #3 Posted on 23.1.02 1103.29 | I seem to recall them noting in ECW that Sandman was left-handed as well. During a Sandman-Raven ECW title match in 96 (I think), Stevie Richards noted it on commentary when Raven was working over Sandman's left arm. Styles said afterward that Stevie "had done his homework", so I guess he was right.
See, listen to Stevie, people, you learn something new.

| #6 Posted on 23.1.02 1958.36 | Being left handed myself, I think there ought to be more left handed wrestlers.
Still, I'm guessing it's kind of awkward for them to do the famed "Iblockyourpunchyoudon'tblockmine". Speaking from experience, I can't punch for shit with my right hand. (Then again, it's arguable as to whether or not my left hand is much better). They could always go the Benoit route and follow up blocked punches with kicks I suppose.

I mean, I'm left handed, but does it matter? No. People fake punching looks bad, regardless if you punch with your left or your right.
Oh well
Sorry if this seems like a flame...

| #9 Posted on 26.1.02 2033.44 | I think it's interesting because wrestling is a very "handed" thing. You always work armbars and stuff of the left arm. You do the "Iblockyourpunchyoudon'tblockmine" with the left hand blocking and the right hand hitting. There must be a million more "handed" spots I don't know about. So how being a lefty affects wrestling is a legit topic. I mean, it's not like "What wrestler has a bigger second toe than big toe?"

"People fake punching looks bad, regardless if you punch with your left or your right."
Not always.
Kurt Angle's punches rock. They always look like he's drilling his opponent.
For all the punches Rock throws, you have to figure they'd look pretty good. Of course, he also slaps his leg with his other hand while doing so, which is why his punches sound like slaps. Still, he throws good punches.
Not everyone punches like Matt Hardy...

Thanks for clearing up my markish ineptitude.
BTW, I agree with the opinion that Angle's Punches look great.
I was also impressed at the RR when Venis was sluggin it out with Austin.
I thought Venis's punches looked real.
I then became a big Val Venis fan.
I am not joking.

| #17 Posted on 27.1.02 2121.09 | Honestly, folks, who can forget how the one, the only, Lex Luger had to sadly rely on his left hand to deliver punches after one too many motorcycle injuries. At least I assume that was the problem - or why else did his abilities in the ring collapse so completely.
And, more seriously, what about Terry Funk for lefty punches that always looked a bit "off".

| #18 Posted on 27.1.02 2203.28 | Benoit was forced to throw chops with his left hand because his neck injury made his right arm a lot weaker, to the point where chopping with his off hand looked better than with his strong hand. They still didn't know the extent of his injury, but just the fact that he switched hands was a good enough indication that something was very wrong.
