Oh come now, are we too important to talk about the Diva Search finals? Or am I the only one who watched (on DVR in super fast forward in about 18 minutes)? I am, aren't I?

Layla won. The fans couldn't have made a worse choice. Of course, I'd have said that regardless of who won.

Ashley, continuing to earn the quarter million she received last year, made the first blunder as host after all three girls made grand limosine entrances from Broadway and walked through Hard Rock Cafe when she said she "was just talking to the girls backstage" and they're nervous. But... but... we just saw them arrive?!?

The New York crowd was totally pro-Layla, although JT and Jen got their cheers in as well.

The line of the night was easily Todd Grisham when JT was eliminated first: "Let's hear it for JT, everybody! A class act all the way."

The runner up line of the night was Ashley explaining to Layla and Jen the hazards of being in WWE: "I broke my hand a couple of weeks ago punching Kristal in the head so hard. Just a couple of months ago I came back from a broken leg!"

Basically, Ashley, you're saying you don't belong in this business. You're a walking calamity.

So congratulations to Layla, now officially a "dee-ver."

Let's not do it again next year. Please?

Has anyone else been able to spot the winner from the very beginning? I don't think I have any insight here; I have to believe the winners are chosen beforehand and costumed better so as to stand out.

    ... Yes, you are! Sorry!

    I just like the 2nd (!) W in WWE!

    Edit:

P.S.: It really took you 18 minutes to ... you know.... ?

I know you end your post asking the folks at Titan not to do this next year, but the fact that you watched it in any way shape or form means you are part of the problem.

I do have a little insight here -- at least, about last year's Diva Search.

Last year, the women weren't given any outfits or any real feedback on how to dress or act. Which probably has a LOT to do with so many of 'em not having a clue. And although they were given a stipend, they had to purchase the outfits on their own.

It was believed by at least two of the girls that the voting was rigged. And backstage, if I remember right, the girls were told that the online voting system had lots of problems, with thousands of votes coming from just a few computers.

They weren't given the voting breakdown either. No accounting. They were just told who was ejected & who as moving forward.

But hey.... it's the WWE.

Almost anyone with no training forced to start wrestling immediately to justify their contract would be a walking calamity. They waited four months before putting Maven (an athlete, not a model, with the previous TV training) on the road but they had Ashley wrestling in matches on live television within the first couple weeks. It's kind of sadistic when you think about it.

Layla was the best of a grim lot because she had a unique look and the most (only) charisma. Quite frankly I thought we'd see a black president before a black diva search winner, so it's a great day for progress.

RATING THE GIRLS HIRED OFF THE STREET TO REPLACE REAL WRESTLERS
1. Maria Kanellis - genuine success story
2. Christy Hemme - fast learner, dedicated, great charisma, fired
3. Candice Michelle - hate her but she has improved past everyone else, at least
4. Krystal Marshall - has gotten surprisingly competent at both talking and wrestling
5. Ashley Massaro - like her but she shouldn't have been put in the situations she's been put in
6. Michelle McCool - good athlete playing stupid character
7. Amy Weber - not bad at playing a snooty heel for a month
8. Joy Giovani - so useless
9/10. Rochelle Loewen and Lauren Jones - the uselessest; actually they may have not been in the actual competition, nevermind

Christy would be first cuz I didn't see Maria have no shockingly good match with Melina. But her progress was kind of ... halted.

Carmella DeCesare still rules!

Nope, but Melina was on Tough Enough 3. (Along with Johnny Nitro, for that matter.)

Melina wasn't a contestant on Tough Enough 3. She came up through the SoCal indy scene.

Yeah, that didn't seem right to me, either. Her Wiki says she "appeared" on TE3, but didn't say in what capacity. But then, it is Wikipedia.

She kinda looks like Jamie. Maybe that's where the confusion started.

IIRC she was one of the large group of almost final finalists who didn't make it to the house.

edit: don't let her friends Nick, Jessica, Paris, etc see this:

Did that girl that went to the final 4 in TE3 ever do anything else on the Indy scene or OVW? I actually thought she had some potential, especially compared to what they are bringing up now.

I knew as soon as I opened this thread that the majority would crap all over Layla winning. What is it that The W has against some /Todd Grisham on/ juicy ass bitches, yo??? /Todd Grisham off/. We really needed another skinny, hugely fake-boobed, white, charisma-less hoebag, right?

EDIT: Forgot to add "WHITE."
