I wonder if Bradshaw had to go haze a new bunch of people since his hardcore toy was taken away from him.

Thank you Mr. Wanz for the check, now you get an AWA World Title Reign. But be careful, my boy Greg is a heat machine.

I love this idea. It's just the kind of crazy thing Tommy would do, just for pride.

Remember, the Euro Title was retired before it was fished out of Shane's gymbag. Maybe Mideon can face Jim Duggan in a gym bag vs garbage bag title match.

It could be kind of like the Million Dollar Belt. Dreamer wears it and just says he'll give it to anyone who can beat him (although, shouldn't he then give it to RVD?)

To put my two cents in, I think it's bullshit!! I rather enjoyed the hardcore matches and Dreamer as the champ. There had better be a good reason for this.

What I really wish is if they'd have kept the belt but made hardcore matches into various stipulation matches (not just anything goes all of the time). So a guy could challenge for the belt and it's a Singapore cane match, or a ladder match, or a strap match. Maybe the choice goes to the challenger so the champ is always having to try a different stip. ("Oh no, Bubba's challenged dreamer to a table match - what's he gonna do?" or "I, Lance Storm, challenge you to a 'Stu Hart's Dungeon Match'")

Good riddance hardcore title. Now maybe they will dump Dreamer's worthless ass and pass his salary on to someone who actually deserves it: Chris Nowinski.

P.S. Didn't Dreamer look overwhelmed just to be in Madison Square Garden with a crowd chanting his name?

I was watching RAW with a friend yesterday, and this match came on. He hasn't watched wrestling sense after Wrestlemania X8 or so. And he was wondering if Dreamer and RVD wrestled before. As I was about to explain, the crowd explained for me;

E-C-W.

The pride on Dreamer's face was evident. Plus his excitement with wrestling in MSG (he's from new York, so that had to be a HUGE deal). RVD still had that smirk, but you could somewhat tell by looking at him that HE knew where he came from, that little regional fed from Philly. That part in the match where they stopped and the crowd chanted "E-C-W-!" was priceless. And the way Dreamer was after that match....explained itself. Right there.

I hope Dreamer can land on his feet and keep up the solid work. And please note JR was PIMPING hard the fact Dreamer was THE innovator of violence.

One can hope that ANY of the ideas on this board is made true, as long as Tommy Dreamer is still on my TV set.

Actually, Crash went 24/7 in Nashville, TN. I was there the night it started. He beat Test in the opening match of Smackdown. Later in the night he cut a promo with Lillian saying he would defend it 24/7. Funny thing was, we didn't see the promo in the arena. It was added in post production I guess. But i still have the ticket stub from this show.

Edit: I am wrong. Crash won the title Feb 24, 2000 in Nashville. The reason I don't remember the promo is because it happened the next week in your hometown. Sorry.

I am glad that the HC title is gone. But to get rid of the 24/7 rule then shit can the title the next week doesn't make much sense. But Jesus EVERYONE who is employed in the WWE has been HC champ at least once.
Did anyone else think the match last night was odd? At first until Dreamer made contact like 2 minutes into the match I was thinking it was a HBK/HHH Euro title kind of match. Were they just fuck around until one person sort of hits the other.

Want to know what I think they should have done? Of course you do. After RVD had lost the IC title to Benoit and Benoit jumped to Smackdown, he could have unified the European and Hardcore belts and there could be two IC-level belts, one for Raw, one for Smackdown. Then we wouldn't have all this gobbledygook about having no heavyweight Smackdown titles other than the World, which screws a lot of competitors out of a chance in the mid-card stepping stone spotlight.

I'd like to think that maybe, just maybe....they had this thing planned, that they wanted to phase out the hardcore title. And because of that, if there will never be another hardcore title, that they made a new one for Tommy Dreamer because he deserved it. They made him the champ for the brief time because he deserved it.

Maybe.

...anxiously awaiting the return of the "Million-Dollar-Belt"... so bisch can retire it! bring out dibiase for a 3-minute match.

seriously, i like the idea of having no HC title giving the HC match some meaning when they happen (if they keep them off tv that is)... the end-all to a big feud like the ol' "i quit" matches. the plunder used to mean something...

Yeah if there wasn't a weekly HC match then when there is a ladder match or a pinfalls count anywhere match is will seem a lot bigger. Matches like TLC and HITC while usually good will eventually end someones career. Withouth the HC garbage the WWE doesn't need to go all out to impress us.

You mean... like a no-DQ match?

See, that's why I won't miss the Hardcore belt. I didn't care, no one cared, the belt didn't do anything. But getting rid of it means, no-DQ will mean something again.

Well, that and now the ECW alum have to do something to prove their worth. :}

Perhaps they just want to forget the stained belt.
With stained I mean the years of 24/7 3-changes in a match stuff.

It doesn't look too good when your champ holds a belt that once was won by a ho, or by Terri (which is about the same I guess).

Maybe in a few months two guys get into a hardcore feud and somehow they produce a new belt for it..*shrug*

Cool to look at the first and last champs though.
From Mick Foley to Tommy Dreamer. There must be some justice in that.

AARRGG I cann't figure out where WWE is going with this. Fazing out the hardcore title screws about 6 wrestlers who I found entertaining. The WWE had the hardcore division fixed the last matched proved it was a viable division that could get people over. Man, I pray the title finds its way over to Heat to help the almighty Raven. I loved his shopping cart of crap.

Finaly they got smart. If this means there are gonna be less matches with talent cracking skulls with ladders and chairs, then good for them.

In my opinion, I think chairs and the various 'hardcore objects' are overused anyway.

If it's used to enhance a story, oke do it. But don't bash someones skull every damn night for title that actually represents a 'crack my skull' sign around your waist.

The matches for the hardcore title in my opinion had nothing to do with wrestling. Even I can crack a chair over someones head...

So, bye, bye, Hardcoretitle, back to wrestling...
