I usually use the "Last 100 Posts" option to see what has been posted recently when I come onto the board. The good thing is that when you click on a post it will take you directly to that post. The bad thing is that it will only do that if the post you click on is in the first page of a thread. If it isn't, clicking the link just takes you to the first post in a thread. Now, there's just the matter of making the extra click to get to the second page, and even I'm not too lazy to do that so it's not that big of a deal, but is there anyway to fix this or add something to make it work? Thanks for any feedback from the admins.

This is actually a pretty good idea, but in order to implement it I would need to find a way to account for the fact that we allow you to select how many posts you want to see on a page. The default is 20, I use 100, you might have something completely different. I suppose we could alter this page to work off individual user stats and manually figure out what number in a thread a particular post is...hmmm, I'll see if I can figure it out (and how much slower it would make that page generate) and get back to you.

This really wouldn't be too much trouble to implement, and the misfeature should be fixed all over, really. For instance, the links to posts in threads currently look like:

http://the-w.com/thread.php/id=25935&page=#295417

But they would make much more sense as:

http://the-w.com/thread.php/postid=295417 (or whatever)

Which would construct the thread array in memory, divide by your posts per page count, then redirect you to the correct page and anchor for the specific post you wanted.

Everywhere that attempts to link to individual posts should do the same sort of thing.

Oh, I'm sorry sir. I didn't mean to infer that you might be poverty stricken. Should I revise my statement to make it clear that you have way more money than brains?

Except that it wouldn't jump to the relevant portion of the post. Presumably the search is going to the exact post that is important...

Now, I doubt that our Google searches are actually working like that, so maybe it's a moot point.

Willful ignorance of science is not commendable. Refusing to learn the difference between a credible source and a shill is criminally stupid.

(It actually wasn't that hard and didn't induce much server overhead at all - I'll work on applying the fix elsewhere as needed)

Google's fourth (and fifth?) pass of this site are now available at their search page. Looks like pages were cached between 31 March and 13 April AND 22-28 April. Maybe they're starting to get in tune with us, who can say.
