We've got a several year old Dell Vostro 1500 that keeps telling us that we're getting to the end of the useful life of the battery. Now we usually use the thing plugged in anyway, but seems like we need a new battery. On the Dell site, they run like $180, which seems like a lot to me. Is there some sort of smaller laptop that you all would recommend for just browsing the internet, facebook, etc.?
Thanks in advance!

Battery lasts 6-7 hours still and seems fast enough. I ended up increasing the memory, not too hard.
Here's the one she has. http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-1001PXD-EU17-BK-10-1-Inch-Netbook-Black/dp/B004LUU77G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1307221358&sr=8-1

For what it's worth I did find this:

I had really good luck with a "Refurbished" Gateway laptop I bought from TigerDirect for $450. I could have spent less.

If all you need is an online machine with some office capabilities, I think just about any of these would work just fine.
