While seeing the name "Tiger Ali Singh" in another thread, I was reminded of something they showed a long time ago. Didn't he win something known as the "Kuwait Cup" or something? It was a tourneyment in Kuwait, and Ahmed Johnson won it the previous year? Or am I imagining all of this?
You are imagining nothing. He won this back in 1997. Some of the matches from Ahmed's victory in 1996 did air on Canadian TV, back when the network showing RAW was getting worried about showing the broadcasts live, primarily due to the Pillman/Austin gun angle.
The tournaments are listed on the page I give below:
You know that's really funny. Just the other day I popped in my old "WWF: World Tour '96" tape that I hadn't watched in like forever. I believe this was the first year of the Kuwaiti Cup tournament and Ahmed Johnson was indeed the winner. (beating a REALLY small HHH in the finals) I seem to remember Tiger winning it the 2nd year, but I could be mistaken.
EDIT: Um, yeah... what HomerJ said.
(edited by Simba on 11.3.03 1241) I wish they made chocolate Advent calendars for WrestleMania, although I'd skip the Mark Henry day.
If TNA can stay afloat, we have some potential dream matches down the road. I wouldn't be surprised if 5 years from now, smarks are salivating over a Kurt Angle/AJ Styles match or a Rey Mysterio/Low Ki match or even an RVD/Ron Killings match.
