A wrestler who is true at heart really won't quit despite and injury. Sure his coach won't let him wrestle but he'll still be practicing.
I had a guy(good wrestler) on my team break his wrist and his little brother(also on the team) have torn microligiments and they were out for the season...and they still trained.

Plus, he won a gold medal with a BROKEN FREAKIN' NECK!
I'm not telling you anything you don't already know.

Though his neck situation was more serious, his determination to work injured isn't that different from ooh..let's say HHH, Undertaker, Shawn MIchaels, Victoria, and many other WWE wrestler. Only thing is, Kurt's skills are on such a high level you don't notice anything. (and we all 'love' him)
On his first night back on television, after the first bump he takes, Kurt should roll on the floor grabbing his neck yelling "OW!!! OH NO!!!" Then pop up and say, "Just kidding!" It would have an effect like the Brown Note in South Park.
Angle's comments about trying to keep himself below 230lbs and how "blowing up" to 250lbs wasn't good for him just kill me.
I know not everybody is an athlete like Kurt Angle, but there are some, I think, who would be wise to note that Angle is possibly the most over guy in the company and yet he's talking about losing weight.
Kurt Angle will be one of my heroes forever. Some day you'll be able to look up the word "Stud" in the dictionary and find his picture next to those of Brett Favre and Bobby Orr.
After reading this, I get the sinking feeling that he's seriously going to cut his career short. I know that modern medicine can do some amazing stuff, but the neck/spine is nothing to mess with. And anytime valium is mentioned, I can't help but be concerned.
Defend him all you want, but that same intensity that we all admire in his drive to compete could be an early death knell for his career.
I hope Kurt isn't rushing his recovery. Does anyone else think he should take another month or two off and make sure he's in working shape before getting back into the thick of things?

Kurt knows that he's rushing his recovery. He just can't stop himself. :-)
The problem is that he's not being very good about "taking off" the current month that he needs to! If he won't settle down & chill for 2 weeks after a significant surgical procedure, he certainly won't take any useful down-time after he's feeling much better.
I believe this is one of the reasons that Dr Youngblood is soooo insistent on treating the guys who have the fusion surgery so conservatively. He realises how driven (read: "nuts") these guys all are, & knows that if he doesn't forbid them from doing anything, that they'll be doing too much too soon.
Kurt's reluctance to admit that he needs recovery time probably isn't nearly as much of a problem with the procedure he had as it would have been with the fusion. With the fusion, you definitely can make a bad mess of things by doing too much. With Dr. Jho's procedure, Kurt may not be following the optimal recovery path, but he probably isn't doing himself any long-term harm. (Apply standard disclaimers: not a doctor, etc.) And I'm sure he feels emotionally better being able to get back to doing stuff right away.
