The decision to do the lottery as announced on Raw tonight was done before the word got out about Angle, so it was not a panic move because Smackdown is decimated on the heel side at this point and needs replenishing.

So, now WWE COULD be losing Kurt Angle as well. Man, that's a HYOOGE chunk of the upper card.

He is a great heel on the mic, and if they reunite him with WGTT or even someone else, Kurt could continue his stand against the evils of Eddie with someone else being the muscle. Have Angle play the battered but determined upstanding leader, throwing his followers at the immoral but cheered champion.
Obviously I don't want to see Kurt continue to put himself in danger, but I'm sure there could be some compromise, especially with all that he can continue to do for the company in various roles. | fuelinjected

Maybe they could come up with some sort of Sheriff-esque role for Angle, except with him playing the heel ... of course all of this would hinge on the draft.

I know he can be just as good a manager as he's been a wrestler. Of course, managers can't do as much, but, y'know. Of course a wrestler like Kurt Angle doesn't come along every day, but WWE is gonna have to continue to develop their existing talent and bring in new talent. “Chris Benoit, finally, is the Heavyweight Champion of this world!” --Jim Ross, WrestleMania XXWeiner of the Day Title History: Won the title on 5/27/02 from Lunacy in a hardcore match; lost the belt the following day to wheresitat42 via offbeat shenanigans Regained the title on 7/3/02 by pinning SKLOKAZOID in a triple-threat match; lost the belt the next day to NickBockwinkelFan via heel chicanery Certified RFMC Member-- Ask To See My Credentials! | Big Bad

He can even bring back his tiny cowboy hat!
Seriously, the draft will help the heel side of Smackdown in a major way. I can see at least two Evolution members switching sides, and maybe Christian and Trish; Heyman would have a ball writing for those two.

I know! The super small cowboy hat and call him Sherif Angle. Wait...nevermind, scratch that, and I'm going to go hang myself now for even the thought of that.

I have to agree here. Kurt needs to start thinking about his and his family's future. Throwing himself around in the ring is only going to make things worse. Kurt, we all respect your work, but it's time to hang up the tights.

Angle's miracle surgery wasn't a neck fusion, it just was corrective(or supposed to be) and he was back in about 6 to 7 weeks of leaving the WWE.
Rhyno, Benoit, and Lita had to get their necks fused which takes about a year to fully heel and then work off ring rust and anything else. Each of these guys have been really healthy since their returns while there is issue's with Angle. Then again Kurt Angle's had neck problems since the Olympics in 96.
Y'know..wrestling with a broken freakin neck :)

| #14 Posted on 17.3.04 1613.52 | Please don't say that Kurt will be ut for a year. They need him to feud/job with Goldberg. I think that ould be a good series of matches with GB winning first, then a no decision (Kurt gets DQ'd or summat) and then Kurt gets the win and then it all culminates with a really huge match with Kurt winning with the Ankle Lock. He could also go with HBK. That would be nice. Or Ric Flair for Flair's retirement match (it's either Kurt, Rocky or Steamboat in flair's retirement match I'm guessing). | SC

Ricky Steamboat is a pretty terrible guess.
But yeah, it sucks that Kurt Angle could be out for a year, because we need him to wrestle Goldberg. Are you on DRUGS?

Chris Benoit: Fine. Rhyno: Fine. Scotty 2 Hotty: Fine. Lita: Fine, despite her many attempts to kill herself and others. Kurt Angle: Not fine.
I think we can and should pin this on Kurtski's "miracle" surgery. If he still can, I think it would be best for Angle to take the year he needs and get his neck fixed once and for all.

I dunno, Austin bumped a lot, and so does Benoit. Austin eventually had the recurring problems that forced him to retire, which is to be expected, but Benoit has been healthy since his return. Angle didn't even make it a year. The fix is nothing more than temporary for a wrestler either way, but this miracle surgery is 0-for-1 as it stands.

I agree with you so much. When I first think about Angle retiring, my wrestling fan part of me says "no, that can't be true. Angle can't retire. I'd beg for Angle to stay" but from a professional standpoint, I have to agree with you. Angle needs to stop wrestling now while he still can. One Dynamite Kid is enough. Kurt's done more in his almost five years than 98% of other wrestlers have in their whole career. He will without a doubt be the first wrestler in history to be inducted into the hall of fame with less than 5 years of pro wrestling under his belt. I love Kurt Angle to death and no one can give matches like Angle can. He's probably one, if not, the best wrestler ever in the history of pro wrestling. He had it all. I think he's even better than Flair because of his professionalism. I just hope that Angle will stay and do something with the WWE like a manager or a road agent or trainer like Malenko. | Joe E. I cringe every time Benoit does the diving headbutt. That's a move he should have cut out of his arsenal after the surgery, or at the very least he should save it for the bigger matches.
BTW: The miracle surgery is now 1-for-2 as Scott Hall had the procedure done some years ago.
