First and foremost, it was the buzz that the original KOTOR got here on the W that actually convinced me to go out and buy an Xbox, and play it. Now, seeing as how the game's been out for a week, and still no mention, I assume that those of you who did spurn my desire to play it are awaiting to recieve it.

Knights of the Old Republic 2. Good, bad, and ugly, (thanx Michealangelo).

Good:

Engrossing. I just got off of my console, and had been playing it since 7 in the evening (Those not checking post time, it's a quarter to 3). 8 hours of gameplay, in one shot. This game will help you quit smoking.

Furthermore, it's really the first time I've picked up a game that's part of a series where playing the first of the games was actually key. KOTOR had a very nonlinear experience and story, as does this, and many of the plot twists that occur do so as a result of your experiences playing KOTOR. Granted, it's all derived from how you answer a few questions here and there, but the transition is amazing. The GTA series never did that for me (those of us who saw the original GTA for the PC as a must buy, we're in the minority), and I can play Super Mario Bros. 3 and have a great time, even though I never beat SMB 1 or 2. Zelda, Metroid, Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, Earthworm Jim, Megaman and Sonic the Hedgehog are the same. Granted, it's only been two games, and those are some hefty tracks to follow, but none of any of those games ever had my controller glued to my hand for 8 hours.

You can build weapon upgrades, stimulants, grenades, and health packs using either a work bench or a lab station. Pazaak is back, and actually carries with it some useful storyline parts. They took Swoop Racing out of storylines, but it's still available as a mini-game.

There are more powers. While they're only a handful, they're huge (especially endowing Light Side with some nifty tricks this time). More lightsaber color crystals, more of everything.

Bad.

Fights are simple. I defeated a boss with two Flurry attacks. Two attacks, and he was dead. This big nasty monster that's plaguing the galaxy, whacked off in two attacks. It's evident that the massive story options came first, and the RPG Style Action second. But then again, that's not so bad, now is it?

There might just be too many powers. My brother went through as Consular, then Sith Lord (dark side prestige class), and wound up having pretty much every power in the game. Given the simplicity of battle, however, he only ever really used 1 or 2 (death field's still nasty, Force Storm got jacked up to godlike).

Ugly.

My brother beat the game, and I'm on the cusp of unlocking the light side ending. For those of you who beat KOTOR on both sides, you'd know that the dark ending was just a little better than the light. I've seen the dark ending, and it was a little lame. I really hope that actually going through the game on the light side of things gives you a big boost.

Summation.

Ignore the bad and the ugly. This game is amazing. I'm not to big on FPS games, so I waive the whole argument on Halo 2 as I'm biased against it already. And if it weren't for GTA: San Andreas, this would have been the best game of 2004.

9.9 out of 10

(For reference, the only 10's are the original Donkey Kong, Super Mario Bros. 3, The Entire GTA Series, and Legend of Zelda: a Link to the Past. 1's include, but are not limited to, Punch King for the GBA, Superman 64, and Ultraman for the SNES.)

I sooo wanna play this... but I'm waiting for the PC version.

Come on February! Hurry up and get here, damn it!

If you ever find yourself in a dark alley staring down a rabid JR, remember these three simple statements:

1. Stone Cold is never coming back! NEVER!
2. Oklahoma is gonna choke!
3. And that cowboy hat of yours? It's got a fungus! Yeah! You heard me right!

If that doesn't scare him off... take 10 years of Jerry Lawler and call me in the morning.

Is it as glitchy as the first game? When I played through it, I think every major glitch reared its ugly head.

I don't have the 10 hours to play through a game right now - let alone the 30-50 that this one will probably take me with light and dark sides.

I so want to get this game, but I'm holding off for a month until life settles down.

Willful ignorance of science is not commendable. Refusing to learn the difference between a credible source and a shill is criminally stupid.

The only glitch I discovered is with the R2D2-like robot that you had in the first one. On the character bio/level up screen, it'll show that he's light mastery, but when you level him up, it'll show that he's dark mastery. This hasn't affected my game in any way, and it only happened after sitting and playing for 4 hours.

You have to complete the mission "Sir, yes Sir!" for Cortez. (Or is it Avery? I can't remember.) After completing said mission you will be able to obtain that elusive 6th star. One fact to remember about the army:
