Maybe it's just me, but Austin looked genuinely happy to be there last night. He looked to be in great physical shape and his facial expressions after the match were um... happy? I'm thinking that last little run back to the ring, complete with ANOTHER middle finger salute, was a little improv from Steve getting caught in the moment.
No beer? According to his interview on WWE.com, they won't be doing the beer toast in the near future. However, it was pretty comical seeing him to the watch gimmick again. I guess we'll see where the "What" status is after he gets some mic time tonight.

I love the way you drive.

It was fun seeing Austin again, and it looked to me that he just needed some time to clear the cobwebs. Fair enough. He was certainly having fun out there, though I'm a tad concerned about that beer belly. Oh, well. Haven't enjoyed a squash this much since..... Well, I need to remember one.

Isn't he supposed to stay alcohol-free as a condition of his Debra altercation? Or am I imagining things?

Matthew: You would've loved it, David. A week in a foreign country, strange people, strange customs...
Dave: Oh, I know what you mean. I've been to Canada.

I also read that was just part of his probation thing in Texas, but he would be allowed to drink on-air as part of his job. Sounds like it could be an odd loophole. Then again, I read this very information on the INTERNET (actually it was the Wienerboard) so who knows. It looks weird without him doused in beer.

From what I've gathered from various reports and from what Austin himself has said in this interview and in the RAW Magazine article, if he is to drink on camera, it is supposed to be non-alcoholic beer only. However, when he did the run-in in L.A., apparently some people (either within the WWE or outside of it), asked him not to do it again, because it may make it LOOK like he's violating his probation. So now he's off the post match beerfest until next year.

I thought Austin looked great. He even had his six pack back (...not the beer kind). He did look very happy, and it was great seeing him back in the ring again. I wonder if Bischoff was genuinely scared in there?

So am I the only person who thinks it is ridiculous that he is back and that is sticking to what was said after his leaving the ring that he should not be applauded, let alone let back into the business? Did not Vince McMahon drink one last beer to Austin in the middle of the ring?

"Darwinists sometimes find confirming evidence, just as Marxists found capitalists exploiting workers and Freudians analyzed patients who said that they wanted to murder their fathers and marry their mothers. They find further instances of microevolution, or additional examples of natural relationships, or a fossil group that might have contained an ancestor of modern mammals. What they never find is evidence that contradicts the common ancestry thesis, because to Darwinists such evidence cannot exist. The 'fact of evolution' is true by definition, and so negative information is uninteresting, and generally unpublishable."

Here comes BILLIONAIRE VINCE - well this oughta be....something. "Ever since last Monday night, the question that seemed to be on everyone's mind is: is Stone Cold Steve Austin really gone? Sadly - sadly, the answer to that question is yes. I know, I don't like it any more than you do. The other question on everyone's mind is: one day, will Stone Cold Steve Austin be back in action in World Wrestling Entertainment? I sincerely hope so. And quite frankly, I really don't have the answer to that question and I'll tell you why. You see, Austin has a lot of explaning and a lot of apologising to do before he comes back. Austin...when he walked out last Monday, it wasn't the first time that he walked out on us. It happened once before, the day after WrestleMania, when Austin packed his back, without notifying anyone, he simply packed his back and went home. He was scheduled to be on RAW, just as he was scheduled last Monday - Austin stayed home for approximately two weeks, claiming he was 'burned out.' All right, we can understand being burned out; we have all been burned out from time to time, and given the enormous contributions that Austin made and has made to our company, all was forgiven - two weeks later Austin came back to work." Long pause as Vince clears his throat. "Nonetheless, in my mind, Austin owes an apology for walkin' out to every superstar in that locker room. Austin owes an apology to the company he helped build. Austin owes an apology to each and every one of you for walking out on you. I don't know if Austin's ever gonna come back to action - or not." "Austin" chant. "Last Monday, Austin was in town, he was scheduled to be on RAW as I said, any number of us attempted to speak to him on his cel phone, he refused to take our calls until finally, after repeated attempts, Austin took one call - that was from that man right there. Austin's friend, Jim Ross. JR pleaded with Austin, 'since you're in town, don't walk, simply just come to the arena, sit down and discuss your grievances as a man.' Austin didn't do that - JR's plea fell on deaf ears. And quite frankly (2), Austin's actions, both personally and professionally are certainly uncharacteristic of the man we all know. Nonetheless, Austin, as an adult, should and will be held accountable. We have to move on as a company without Austin. And move on we will - we have to; we have no alternative. We'll develop new stars, new matches, new concepts; even this Sunday's King of the Ring winner will automatically face the champion at SummerSlam. Austin is gone, but clearly Stone Cold will never, ever be forgotten. I know that in Austin's heart, he wishes every superstar in the locker room well, he wishes all of you well, and I know Austin even wishes even the company that he helped build well. So Steve, tonight, wherever you are...I'd like to say on behalf of all the superstars, some of whom are riding your coattails for the trailblazes you made - I'd like to say, Steve, to you, on behalf of the company that you helped build - on behalf, Steve, of every single fan that you entertained throught the years all over the world ..." I swear to God, if he says YOU'RE FIRED, I quit here and now. "On behalf of all of us, Steve, I would simply like to say....thank you. Thank you, Stone Cold - thank you for the memories." He hands the mic back to LILIAN GARCIA - and then is handed a beer...back to the middle of the ring - there's a toast - Vince takes a swig...and then leaves the can in the centre of the ring. Camera zooms in on the Budweiser...will somebody enter the frame and pick it up? No....we just fade to black.

You know what that seg needed? That seg needed an actual heel announcer cracking up at the desk at everything Bischoff did while an actual face announcer registered his disgust God these announcers blow....
