Exactly what we all thought would happen, but satisfying nonetheless. I'm actually surprised by the respect Tank gave Kimbo afterwards. Best announcer quote" "Which Tank will we see tonight, Sherman or septic?"

This was a great card overall with a lot of flashy KOs. Antonia Silva was impressive in his 3 rounds vs Ricco, even moreso after finding out that he had an MCL tear about 2 weeks ago. Yves Edwards' flying knee was sweet. I love flying knees. The most impressive guy on the undercard was Rafael Feijao, who showed why if you want to be a dominating striker, you train with Anderson Silva.

Based on the thread title, I expected to see the video show Kimbo lose, not to see that Tank got "Kimbowned."

Next in line for Kimbo Slice looks to be another pro wrestling retread: Ken Shamrock.

After the match, announcers Mauro Ranallo, Bill Goldberg and Stephen Quadros were teasing that Ken Shamrock, who turned 44 last week, may be Slice's next opponent. Shamrock first has to get past Robert "Buzz" Berry in a match on March 8 in London's Wembley Arena.

If this trend continues, it won't be long before we get a Kimbo Slice/Brock Lesnar fight. Actually, that'd be pretty awesome.

And on an aside, Goldberg's doing MMA commentary now? How long has this been going on?

Bill Goldberg's been working with EliteXC for about a year now I think. He's done commentary for their shows as well as those they've had a hand in promoting, including the K1 event where Brock Lesnar had his first MMA fight.

As for Kimbo vs Shamrock, I'm hoping they don't go that route. Nobody knows how good Kimbo's grappling skills have become since training with Bas Rutten, and Shamrock, even though he's a shell of his former self, could still be a very big threat there. EliteXC shouldn't want to risk Kimbo having his first loss so early. He should be facing guys of similar experience for at least 2 more fights. James Thompson seems like a good choice for me since he's a big, imposing striker who has shown that he doesn't hold up too well against other strong strikers. It would sell and be a good matchup to get Kimbo some more experience.

I am watching the replay now. Good lord Bill Goldberg is horrible on the mic (when WASNT he?).
He was trying to say that Ricco Rodriguez was one of the top ten heavyweights on the ground. He stumbled, mumbled and 'misspoke' several times before he finally just says "you know what I mean".

Speaking of Ricco, good lord man, have some pride, you look like ME with that belly flopping around.

Well, he is in or just got out of rehab. I didn't see what you all saw but I'm watching him on VH1's Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew. It's hard to have a proper training diet and workout in rehab.

Ricco and Tank could team up as a couple for the next season of The Biggest Loser. Was surprised at Ricco's performance...much better than I expected. Guess Silva's MCL worked in Ricco's favor. Got to disagree with Zeruel's take that it's hard for Ricco to stay in shape while in rehab. unless Dr. Drew Pinsky is forcing the guy to eat at gunpoint, Ricco controls what goes into his mouth. And there isn't anything keeping him from doing cardio during the day.

I am sure he's been out of rehab long enough to at least cut ten or fifteen pounds of flab. He doesnt look that bad on Celb Rehab. Plus, they showed Baldwin on the treadmill and others on the exercise bikes. So, it's not like he couldnt at least get a little work in.

Cardio isn't the same as strength training. You could maybe lose a few hundred calories after an hour on a bike but then your body goes back to a resting state and you barely burn any calories.

As you put on lean muscle, your body burns more and more calories day by day. The more muscle you put on the more your basal metabolic rate (en.wikipedia.org) goes up and the more calories you can burn. Cardio is good for short term calorie burning but it alone won't bust the flab. Using your BMR, you can gauge approximately how many calories your body needs to burn. If you come in 500-600 under what your BMR is per day, you can lose about a pound of fat a week. There is no consensus as to how many calories in a pound of fat is. If you do the math, 1 pound is about 453.6 grams. 1 gram of fat is 9 calories, so 1 pound of fat is about 4082 calories. There is a camp out there thay says that there are only 3500 calories in a pound of fat. 500 or so are lost due to your body turning the fat to energy, or so the theory goes. (en.wikipedia.org)

No, I am not a fitness trainer but my best friend is. I made a new year's resolution to get back into shape (and I was coming close to getting type two diabetes). I bought a commerical gym-quality home gym to strength train and I've been strength training four times a week for about eight weeks now (since Jan. 1st). I changed my diet to low fat, lower carb, and high protein to eat better.
January 1st, I could barely bench press a set of 10 reps at 75 lbs. Tonight I did three sets of 12 at 185 lbs. Doing 100 lbs squats was a chore and I could barely walk afterwards. Tuesday night I did three sets of 12 at 250 lbs and didn't feel a thing. Once I started creatine and a mix of whey protein (60g) and Muscle Milk, I was able to start lifting bigger and bigger weights. I doubt he has that available to him in rehab, unless one of the docs authorized it (vanilla whey protein is a white powdery substance).

What does that have to do with anything? I have put on muscle but the cutting of the fat has been slow. People have noticed that I look a little slimmer, but in two months time I have only dropped 10 lbs (about 3.16% of my starting body weight). I'm sure that the fat I am losing is offset by lean muscle but the point is that it is a slow process, especially if one haven't trained in a while. I just got fitted for a tuxedo last week for my best friend's wedding. Between now and May, I hope to lose a few inches on that waist measurement.

I haven't seen any weights on Celeb Rehab yet, so I doubt he did any strength training.

I know this is slightly off-topic but as I have started to regularly lift weights for the first time in 13 years, I know first hand how hard it is to lose all my belly fat, even with the 200 crunches I'm doing over the course of a day, four days a week.

Hey congrats on the new exercise habits. I'm somewhat of a health and fitness nut and I like seeing people getting in shape, and most importantly, doing it the right way. Those are some insane gains in 8 weeks. Keep it up!

As far as Ricco is concerned, I think that at this point he's just content to get some nice paydays and get his life back together. He's never been an all-or-nothing type of fighter. Heavyweight submission grapplers of his caliber are hard to come by, so hopefully he gets serious about fighting again at some point.

That would be greatly ironic in that Logano didn't NEED to pass Gilliland; he had the tiebreaker over Gordon and thus didn't need that point. (Guess they didn't know that at the time...)
