Well...to use a boxing comparison, this is a lot like Hassim Rahman knocking Lennox Lewis's lights out. Of course, Lewis went on to dominate Rahman in the rematch, but the damage was done.

Likewise, Kimbo can get a rematch and knock this guy into next Tuesday, but the damage is already done and the mystique is gone.

I tuned in for Gina Carano, and as pretty as she is, I don't think I'd watch another card.

I would tune in, and probably drop a few coins on PPV, if they pull the trigger on Carano/Cyborg.

Except for the fact that Lewis was pretty much the best HW boxer in the world at that point and the Rahman loss was a legit upset, while Kimbo probably isn't as good as Petruzelli to begin with.

How is it that I am a good actor? What I do is I... pretend to be the person Im portraying. Youre confused. Case in point: in Lord of the Rings, Peter Jackson comes to me and says I would like you to be Gandalf the Wizard, and I said You are aware that I am not really a wizard? and Peter Jackson said I would like you to use your acting skills to portray a wizard for the duration of the show. So I said Okay and then I said to myself Mmm.. How do I do that? And this is what I did: I imagined that I was a wizard, and then I pretended, and acted, in that way on the stage. How did I know what to say? The words were written down for me in a script. How did I know where to stand? People told me where to stand." -- Sir Ian McKellen, Extras

Kimbo was taken by surprize. I mean, he wasn't ready for the fight he was given...instead, he (presumably) was training to fight against Shamrock.

I dig Slice, and I'll wait for him to lose against someone in a scheduled match before I say that he's all hype.

Regardless of what happens with EliteXC I think Kimbo deserves a rematch.

Seth says he was paid to stand up and fight. NOT to take it to the ground. FIX?

Well, fix-ish. It's not like Seth was told to intentionally lose, just go into the fight somewhat handicapped (since Kimbo presumably should have been the better stand-up fighter). Plus, Seth won.

There had also been rumors circulating before Saturday that Ken had been given the same offer.

Gotta love how EliteXC not only got destroyed on Saturday, but even paid extra for the right (since Kimbo also got a tidy undisclosed sum to accept the Petruzelli fight).

One aspect I haven't seen discussed about this is whether or not Petruzelli was locked in with ProElite or not. If not, wouldn't this be the perfect time for Dana White to come in and take "the UFC fighter who destroyed the legend of Elite XC" (or whatever words are most appropriate and Vince McMahon-ish?)

OR would/does White continue his stance of not even bothering to acknowledge his "small potatoes" "competition?"

I expect M(MA)eltzer is all over this so that angle should be filtered down to us this week or next week.

I've wondered the same thing. Dana has had no problem in the past (en.wikipedia.org) with doing exactly that, and Petruzelli's win was much classier and wider-seen Gannon's.

Petruzelli actually is a former UFC guy --- he was on a past season of The Ultimate Fighter, though his record in actual UFC competition is something like 0-2 or 0-3. It's actually probably a bigger coup for White to say "Hey, look, Kimbo couldn't even last against a UFC reject."

Give some thought to 15-Tiago. I've seen every one of his races live out at Santa Anita. In every race so far, he has not failed to execute a very nice looking middle move burst of speed.
