I saw the preview for Hero. Jet Li fighting against a whole army by himself?!?! That is gonna be sweet as hell. Also saw a preview for Troy, can't say I'm a huge Pitt fan, but when they do the zoom out of the ocean and there's about a million boats there, you know the battles will be awesome.

Is this Hero a new movie, or is this QT helping to rerelease an old (relatively speaking) Hong Kong movie? I saw a movie with Jet Li called something like "My Father the Hero" I think involved him fighting an army with some kid. Does that sound like it might be it?

Hero's like two years old, and I don't QT has had any direct involvement in finally getting a release. It's a damn good film, better than Crouching Tiger.

One of the trailers I saw was that they're remaking my favorite Japanese movie, "Shall We Dance?" with Gere and Lopez. I just don't think it will have the same charm as the original.

Hero (2002) has been awaiting release in the States for over a year. Miramax owns the rights and has pushed it back repeatedly. The current date is August 20, and that's a limited release, so chances are not everyone will have the opportunity to see it, unfortunately.

I'd give Vol. 2 a 4.5 out of 5. The pace was a little too leisurely for my taste, but the action made up for it. Nothing, for me, will top the House Of Blue Leavesn fro Vol. 1, but the fight in Budd's trailer was pretty damn good.

One would assume that any theater that played the Hero trailer will have the movie, otherwise what would the theater get out of playing that trailer? I mean, they only play trailers so that you'll come back to the theater and pay for more movies. Also, we also got the Shall We Dance? trailer, and I personally feel that remaking that film is a crime. Why won't Hollywood leave well enough alone?

As far as Hero goes, I'm really not sure if the trailer could've _intentionally_ misrepresented the plot any more than it did. Great movie, but "Jet Li vs. an army" isn't what it's about.

Not necessarily. Hero and Shall We Dance are both Miramax movies and were probably trailers stuck on the Kill Bill print. (if you'll notice, there are more trailers for films from the studio making the picture you're seeing at the theater.)

I mean, I see a good number of indy features and there's no guarantee those films will show up at that particular theater.

Did anyone stay thru the bitter end of the credits for Volume 2. We were kind of dissapointed from the fact that the final fight was only a minute long and decided to leave while the credits were rolling. It looked like there may have been something cool coming during the credits, but we left anyway. No one's mentioned anything so I guess that might answer my question right there.

At the press screening, after the credits rolled, there was an outtake from the huge fight at the end of Vol. 1. It could have been taken out, as changes are occassionally made in movies between screening and release, but I imagine it is still there. Don't spend $7 just to see an outtake, though.

It's still there. It was maybe seven seconds long at the most.

If you saw the first one, or hell, even if you didn't - SEE THIS MOVIE!!

Kill Bill vol 2 is perhaps one the greatest movie sequels ever made (at least in the last 20 years). BILL #2 is MUCH better than the first.

The screenwriting is classic Quentin back to his old self. the acting from EVERYONE is top notch. I can see Uma getting an Oscar nomination for this one..

Returning from the forgotten land of actor's past is David Carodine who is so good in this movie, its almost too good to be true.

One thing that Tarantino is great at is getting the best performances out of actors whose best work is seemingly behind them. The cast of Kill Bill 2 with the exception of Thurman, are ALL examples of this. From Michael Madson to Darryl Hannah this one has great stuff from them all!!

GO SEE THIS MOVIE!! Good stuff!

Madsen will always have a place in my heart for cutting off the cops ear. That was probably one of the sickest, most brutal, yet compelling scenes ever!

Carradine was GOLD in this movie. Every single scene, he was the epitome of calm. Even when he was angry, or violent, he always maintained a nice, even edge about him. GREAT JOB! Dont know if this will give him a "Travolta" bump in exposure and future work, but it was every bit as good as Travolta's "comeback" in PF.

Thank you for your irrelevant opinion.

Not sure how much of this is full on spoiler, but better safe than sorry.

Spoiler Below: Highlight text to read

I left just before it happened, but I guess during the credits they would show Vivica A. Fox's name, and then it was crossed out. Repeat as necessary... except Daryl Hannah's name had a question mark beside it.

I'm too lazy to watch Vol. 1 again, but was Vernita Green called anything else? Because I noticed the pattern in letters for the females snakes (Elle, O, Bea).

I didn't get a good look at the movie poster in Budd's trailer, but I could have sworn it had Michael Madsen on it. And a big part of me was praying that I was reading correctly the movie being "The Vega Boys". Can someone confirm or deny this for me?

In this (last?) week's Entertainment Weekly, there's an interview where QT says he has the idea for a Kill Bill Volume 3. Uma won't star, but she'll be in it. And it will be Nikki plotting revenge on the Bride for killing Vernita.

Thing is, he won't do it for fifteen years, because he wants to use the same actress that played Nikki in the movie. He said he's thinking about bringing the actors back to shoot some scenes for the movie now. Don't know if it's Tarantino blowing smoke, but it's an interesting idea nonetheless.

He also talked about the Warren Beatty-as-Bill thing. He said had Beatty had the part, it would have been more of an "evil James Bond-ish" type of role, as opposed to Carradine's Bill. Which makes a little more sense.

When I saw this preview, I leaned over to my friend and said, "Didn't we just SEE Kill Bill?" So I'm glad that's not the case.

I went to see KB2 at Cinerama here in Seattle (which is a fantastic venue to see a movie, by the way), and during the previews, I've never seen as much booing, hissing and popcorn-throwing fury as when they showed the previews for "I, Robot" and "Shall We Dance".

After managing several movie theatres over a time I can say this: The studio who releases the film will attach 1-3 trailers that are required to play before a movie (usually from the same studio) this gets the word out on new releases (ever notice that there is ALWAYS a Disney preview on a Disney print?).

Also, they will send a list of trailers that they demand you attach yourself. This list is usually only 2-3 suggested trailers (with maybe only 1-2 actually demanded), the rest will be dictated by the booking department of the theatre chain.

These rules are standard for bigger, block-buster-esque, films

In the event that the studio doesn't give a damn, the theatre booking department will dictate 1-2 trailers and the theatre management will decide the rest.

One would be WRONG. Movie theatre chains play whichever trailers the distributors ask them to. The idea is that if the film's promoted, both the chain and the distributor make money. If the distributor doesn't think the film will open large or make much money, they won't put the trailer on many films. Or, they go the opposite route and put the trailer on EVERYTHING to get people to go.

All-in-all, I'd guess that Hero will open fairly wide since Miramax instructed us to put it on EVERY print of KB2.

Renegade Raine says:

After hearing a lot of kids at my school complain that Volume Two sucked and didn't have as much action as the first movie, I was a bit worried that they might be right.

But after watching it today, I will mentally bitchslap...maybe even physically if I'm in a good enough mood...ANYONE who says this movie sucked. The only complaint I had for the first movie is that I wanted more characterization and more backstory, which is EXACTLY what Volume Two delivered.

I thought no one was going to beat Gogo's (Chiaki Kuriyama) coolness in the first movie, but Bill was AWESOME. So awesome, that his character got me to intensely hate Beatrice...I mean REALLY hate her. It's STILL bugging me now. I could go on a rant of why I hate her, but quite frankly, I don't have the energy for it right now.

Anyways, yes...Kill Bill Volume Two ROCKED.

Some nitpickery...

Her name is Beatrix.
