Not as much action as the first one, but that is okay, it is way more charector heavy and lots of great QT dialog. Dont understand why they wouldnt let the BEATRICE slip through until Bill called her that, but, that is just a side issue.
Plenty of fighting, plenty of good story developement. Whe she actually gets to Bill's house, a unexpected suprise.
Not quite as good as Volume one, but, I loved that one, so that isnt really a put down. If you liked Volume 1, I would recommend it.
Also, Samuel L Jackson, and "Trudy" from Pulp FIction are in it, however briefly. Good to see some old QT faces pop up when I didnt expect it.

I can't quite put my finger on it yet, but it didn't move me the way Vol 1 did, not to mention RD and PF did back in the day.
I really didn't like Budd's death (I don't think that's a spoiler, but saying how would be).
I did LOVE both Gordon Liu and Bill's theory about Superman.

I didn't like it as much as Volume I, either. I'm more of an action action action now now now kind of guy. But the dialogue, camera angles, music, scenery were f'ing awesome. The fight scenes, while short, were still good, particularly Elle and Uma.

I didn't even NOTICE it was Sam Jackson and I can distinctly remember... at least trying to see that it was him. Bizarre.
I loved all the little shocking moments throughout, like the end of the Elle fight, the end of the Bill fight. Just little things. Plus, Bill has one of the coolest lines ever... "you're my favourite person in the world, but..." Classy.

| #10 Posted on 17.4.04 0835.18 | Instant Rating: 10.00 | I liked it an awful lot myself. I thought it was a better overall movie than Volume 1. Not as much action as Volume 1, but at times it was the thriller that movies like Gothika or Underworld WISH they were. In comparison, Volume 1 had a lot of sizzle, but lacked the steak (again, only in comparison to Vol. 2, because I still love it).
If the Zims (or anyone else that knows) are reading this, what's the fine line here as far as starting a spoiler thread for a given movie? Because there's lots I'd like to discuss, but I'd like to avoid it here as I assume everyone will take this thread as a "did people like the movie" thread more than anything else.

BTW, who else is phenomenally happy that Warren Beatty dropped out? I just can't imagine him playing Bill.

Well, I guess it could've worked, but not nearly as well as Carradine. It was somehow more romantic with Uma and Carradine, whereas the spectre of Beatty and a much younger woman would've been too in-jokey to really work.

| #18 Posted on 18.4.04 0700.36 | Instant Rating: 7.23 | I really liked it.. It was very different from part 1 and I am sure some of the people that loved part 1 will dislike #2 for that. But those are probably people that aren't QT fans and just liked it for the killings
There were quite a few surprises in it, that were actually set up in part 1 but that due to all the action and fun you totally forgot about.
The only thing that semi-bothered me (at first) was the total change of pace near the ending. Around the superman story, it became a the pace suddenly becomes very slow and relaxed and things like that. I didn't expect that and had to slow myself (and my expectations for what would happen next) down to get into it. Then it was brilliant again. (I dunno if the above makes too much sense but who cares)
All in all a brilliant movie, the same goes for part 1. I went to a cinema where they showed both of them in a row. Sweet..
