Has anyone tried this site? They have a free 7-day trial, and a friend of mine told me it's great fun, but I've seen other overhead satellite picture sites before, so I wasn't too intrigued. It looks like you might be able to interactively move around the streets, though, which would make it infinitely cooler than the static pictures I've seen before.

I've played around with it a little. It is pretty neat. It is not just static pictures. If you were zoomed in on, say, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, you could type in Brisbane, Australia and it will pull back, rotate the globe and zoom in again. Almost like flying a plane around the world.

Of course, that's to be expected, but some of the pictures are (by my count) 4-5 years old. My sister's been in her house since 1999, and the shot of her neighborhood shows a vacant lot where her house is now (from an altitude of about 2500 feet).
Unless something has happened to her house (I gotta go make a phone call!). |
