The thought first crossed my mind when I saw an interview of him before Game 6 talking about winning a championship. The look in his eye was just not right. My second clue was the odd, almost abusrd, teethy scowl on his face right as he threw an elbow into Peeler.
His quote in this article seals the deal: Kevin Garnett is crazy. He's flipped out. Maybe he's not QUITE Mike Tyson; after all, he hasn't bitten anybody (yet). But I bet he brought a smile to Kellen Winslow's face with his latest comments.
You know what, though? I'd love to have a man that crazy about winning a championship on my team.

It couldn't have been grimacing from the fact that Peeler had just hit him with a low blow. No, couldn't have been that.
Garnett's an emotional person. Besides, he's very media-savvy. Nothing wrong with a little soundbite to keep the media happy. Like Blanket said, he's got his game face on. And I can't WAIT until Wednesday.
"It's Game 7, man. That's it. It's for all the marbles. Sitting in the house, I'm loadin' up the pump. I'm loadin' up the Uzi. I got a couple M-16s, a couple 9s. I got a couple joints with some silencers on them. I'm just loading clips, a couple grenades. I got a missile launcher with a couple of missiles. I'm ready for war." -Kevin Garnett, apparently channeling Kellen Winslow.

When somebody says "Everything was on the line", nobody makes a big deal out of saying 'Hey, it's just a game, there are more important things like family, everything is not on the line'. Why? Because everyone knows that's not a literal statement.
And why are war analogies off limits? Once again, nobody truly thought he was going to literally bring weapons to game 7. He was just trying to put over how tough and rough he expected the next game to be. Nothing more in my mind.

Oh, come on - you know the only people allowed to make the "sports is war" analogy are sportswriters and broadcasters who aren't creative enough to come up with something else.
And I'll bet dollars to donuts that KG's quote shows up in whatever vignette that TNT shows before the game.
edit: Also, Brad Miller's an ass, but this at least made me laugh:
"I'm bringing my shotgun, my bow and arrow, my four-wheel drive truck and four wheelers and run over him," Miller said Tuesday. "It's going to be the ultimate battle. He's a warrior, and that's how I like to play when I step between the lines."

I'd look a little CARAAZZZYYYYY after someone elbowed me in the ribs hard enough to drop me to my knees. I'm glad they suspended Peeler for two games, too. He deserved it, and don't give me any crap about KG deserving one, too. That little contact with his shoulder into Peeler's chest was SO much lighter than the regular contact that players have on the court. A local sportscaster brought up an interesting point on a local talk show yesterday morning. He is almost convinced that this whole Peeler incident was put out there by the King's to try and get KG to retaliate and get him ejected for game 7. Makes sense. To bad it didn't work. $7,500 fine? Kevin can handle that. Good luck tonight Wolves!

That makes absolutely no sense at all. Now, if they dragged the guy sitting at the end of the bench into the game with the intent of trying to incite KG, you might have something. Almost.
But considering Adelman is sticking with a seven-man rotation for the playoffs, and Peeler happens to be one of those seven-men getting meaningful minutes, then it's absurd that they'd risk losing him for a Game 7. Especially when he's one to step up when Peja, Webber, or Bibby aren't playing so well.

...except for the Kings.
Of course, I expect to see KG go off for about 40-20-8 tonight, expecially in lieu of criticism that he should have tried to personally take over the fourth quarter of Game Six, to get back at the Kings.

I simply thought it was kind of creepy, and that was just from reading his comments. After I saw the actual interview where he said it, I thought it was REALLY creepy. Really slow and thought out.
Sportscenter ran a poll last night asking viewers if they were offended by his comments, and about 75% said no, so maybe his apology was entirely the idea of the PR department and had nothing to do with backlash.
