Kerry wins 9, Edwards to bow out (cnn.com)

The whole primary process amazes me. In early January, it looked like Dean would walk away win the nomination. with Clark as his VP. I remember watching Edwards offically joining the race on the Daily Show, and thinking this guys has NO shot. and I remember being hopeful that somehow the Dems could win. Now Im convinced we can pull this off. I though Bush was unbeatable. No more.

Well, well, well. If it isn't the serious, elusive, Leroy Green. I've been waiting a long time for this Leroy. I am sick and tired of hearing these bullshit Superman stories about the wassa legendary Bruce Leroy catching bullets with his teeth. Catches bullets with his teeth? Nigga please.

Can't say this was terribly suprising. The Party fell in behind Kerry pretty fast. It's been apparent the whole time that the Party wanted the nomination process wrapped up fast, but I think this was a huge mistake on their part. The process was not destroying any of the serious candidates' (with the possible exception of Dean) chances of winning in November, so why would they want the nominee chosen so fast? This only gives Bush's team more time to attack them, and with Bush having about 3 times as much money as Kerry, I imagine we will see that happening very soon. As long as the nomination process went on, the Bush campaign couldn't directly attack any one candidate.

I don't agree, unless the economy doesn't generate more jobs by fall and Iraq goes to Hell. Kerry is the perfect candidate for Bush. Edwards was much more electable IMO.

Well, I guess the mini-sequel to 1988 starts: George Bush's Son vs. Mike Dukakis's Lt. Governor.
I agree with Dr. Dirt about Edwards being more of a danger than Kerry. Much as I thought heading into the New Year (fake)Dean wouldn't get the nomination. Sure, I thought it would be Gephardt, but I did pick against the chalk. And remember, in the past century the only two Democrats born in the North (Wilson was born in the South) to win the Presidency are Roosevelt and Kennedy. And, despite Kerry's attempts to pretend he's Kennedy, he won't be able to pull it off. Of course, with a few months still until the convention, an Al Gore endorsement of Kerry could turn the tide and open the door for either Kusinich or Sharpton.

Everyone keeps harping on the $100 million war chest, but now that he's confirmed as the nominee this early, it gives Democratic benefactors plenty of time to commit money to him rather than send cash in the direction of other candidates in a protracted primary race.

Wait…if it’s MLK Jr. Day AND Pat Patterson’s Birthday…who gets the token win here?-- Matt "Excalibur05" Hocking on a match between Mark Henry and Rico

MH: What’s a clever way to say that I have a penis?
CJ: Uh…Mark, nobody’s going to buy that shirt.
MH: How about if I say that I’ve got…a…uh…?
CJ: Coming up with T-Shirt ideas is hard Mark, why not leave it to the WWE marketing department.
MH: I know! I’ve got it!
CJ: Got what?
MH: Stank! That’s Mah Stank! I’m gonna make a fortune!!
CJ: “That’s Mah Stank”?
MH: On the front it’ll say “Can You Smell It?” and on the back it’ll say “That’s Mah Stank”. Everybody’ll buy it because they’ll think it’s a Rock shirt.
CJ: You know…you might be on to something there, sad to say.
MH: I can’t wait to show mah stank to Trish.

You know, I have a feeling that Spanky didn’t quit, he was fired. Why? So they could repackage Mark Henry as “Stanky.” Think about THAT!

Don't forget that there's one wild card. If Osama's caught between now and November, you might as well hand Bush his second term.

Edge: So Triple H wants me to come to Raw and fight him for the big gold belt. I've TOTALLY passed you on the card.
Jericho: Yeah, but while Triple H is burying you, I get to make out with Trish in front of millions. You tell ME who the winner is here, junior!

I hate to sound like a paranoid jerk here...but how do we know that they didn't already catch Osama? We only heard about Saddam getting caught because the US Government told us.

The simplest reason not to believe the always credible Iranians on Bin Laden being caught: Someone would have shot off their mouth by now and Washington would be flooded with leaks.

Fair enough, BUT if he's conveneiently paraded out during the dinner hour the weekend before election day, it's not being so paranoid, is it?

The media pretty much has given Kerry a pass that Dean didn't enjoy. Bush's minions are already starting the campaign. There is so much to nail Kerry on between now and November that his old bosses campaign may look stellar by comparison.

Dean got a pass for a looooong time. John F'n is still getting the pass and will for awhile. Dubya's starting up, now that he knows who his opponent is going to be. That's the right course. Kerry, and the rest of them, have been out there with the News organizations telling their stories every day for the last 3-4 months for free. Sure, they spent a little money fighting it out among themselves, but it paid for itself.

Kerry's name recognition is way up there, compared to December (over 70% of people polled didn't know what state he was senator in). It's time for Dubya to get HIS message out. And then we let the great people of the United States decide. I love our country. We whine and moan and complain, but then the people do the right thing. And if they elect Kerry, then he's my president. And if they elect Bush, he's my president.

and if it's close, either way, I'm not going to spend the rest of my life whining about it, like some people I could mention. Not you, Doc - but some others I could name.

Theoretically, but Hussein's capture gave Bush something like a five point boost for about a week, then it was right back to his old levels. If it happens too early, it'll almost be a nonfactor. If it happens too close to the election, I don't know how many people will buy it as a coincidence.

AWA, I agree. The diference I see between myself and other liberals is the simple fact that the President, of whatever party, is my president. I may dislike policies or actions but you must respect the office. The only way to have a coherent government is because the people allow it. Bush won in 2000 and it's over. What bothers me is the lack of repect people from both sides show to the other when in office. You don't have to make your point with disrepect.
