Yes kudos to the Bulldogs and Felton. Beating the Cats in the SEC tournament though? I don't know. The Cats will get a first round bye so the Bulldogs would have to beat someone in the first round to even get to the Cats. I'm sure my Gators could find a way to choke against them but East play West teams in the first round don't they?
we had played them the previous Wed. at home...Myself and my buddies spent the whole game wondering "how did these guys win at Rupp??" They were absolutely the most pathetic team I've ever seen stroll into Memorial. Just more proof that it's the wildest, wackiest, year in the SEC in a LONG time. I just hope we can pick up a road win and squeeze into the tournament.
14-5 (3-5) - MISS A FREE THROW CURLY!! Next: Wed. vs. UGA
And now Georgia takes down my Gators too, not that that's much of a hard task anymore. This has got to be the most disappointed i've ever been in a team. We had (HAD because Drejer decided to take his ball and go home) FOUR all SEC caliber players and we can't even go .500 in the conference? Just pathetic. What was that you said about us going to Final Four chuck? At this point, I wouldn't even put us in the tournament. If we do sneak into the tournament, we're losing in the first round again. And I KNOW we'll lose to whoever we play in the first round of the SEC tournament.
I just can't believe our luck this year...I hate to say "luck" when talking about injured kids but it's true...We play Kentucky (x2) with a healthy Fitch, Florida with Drejer (x2), and Alabama (tonight) with a healthy Ernest Shelton who has been hurt. The only time we maybe lucked out was playing UGA without Rashad Wright, but I think we'd have smoked them anyways. I really don't understand Georgia at this point. It's unbelievable that they're talking NCAA tournament down there.
I think that UGA is merely "talking" NCAA tournament though. They handed us our @$$e$ twice, but we were fully cooperative. I actually think they intimidated us, they definitely forced their will on us. I just don't think they have enough to go dancing.
As for the question of "how did UGA win at Rupp"? With all due respect to Vandy, I'm guessing that the UGA team didn't "get up" for Vandy the same way they did for UK. As a 'Cat fan I firmly feel that we always catch other teams' "best shot". Of course, I also believe that Vandy didn't simply say "Okay UGA, do what you want, we don't mind" the same way it appears my favorite team did.
What is up with Florida? I think that Billy D will start feeling serious heat. Has he recruited too many of the same type players (shooters) and forgotten to recruit role players and bangers?
Well last week the guy who does Bracketology for ESPN had Georgia was one of the last four out, and since then they have beaten Florida. I think the SEC will likely get six teams in. South Carolina, Kentucky, MIss St and LSU are probably in. And there's only half a game between Tennessee, Florida, Georgia and Vandy and so far Georgia has the most impressive wins, followed by Vandy. Georgia also has the worst losses too, so who knows.
As for Florida's problem, we have tons of scorers, but we don't seem to be recruting any defensive players. While we are number one in offense we are also last in defense. We score but they just score too, and especially at the end of games we choke. Out of our graduating class (Bonner, Hamilton, and Nelson) we miss Hamilton the most because of his defense. I love Adrian Moss, he's a intense guy, a fighter, but he's just not a shot blocker or a good post up man. I think Chris Richard is supposed to be a good banger but he's only a freshmen. Lee is athletic but not really a banger either and Colas? I hope he never plays again, he's horrible. So I think we do need to recruit some defensive players, especially down low.
Of course now that Drejer is gone it brings up another problem, point guard. For years now we haven't had a real point guard. Nelson and Dupay were scorers not point guards and Roberson and Humpherey are the same way. Drejer was a legitimate point guard, and a big one too.
So now it looks to me like we have a couple of big holes. I love Billy D and I love our high scoring offense but we need some defense too. We're like the Dallas Mavericks of college basketball.
