After a billion chances, I guess hurting his wrist in the main event of RAW was the last straw. You hate to see a man lose his job, especially these days, but seriously, how many times did WWE cart him out there only to end up on the DL?

I would think the former Mr. Kennedy will find himself in TNA eventually, but what name will he yell out then?

So the guy goes from a "big return" on Raw, challenging the WWE champion, to released within a week? I have not heard the extent of his injury, but how many strikes did he have against him?

Notes from the audio update from Meltzer & Alvarez:
-Dave thought many times that Kennedy would be released (such as getting busted on the Signature Pharmacy case shortly after being interviewed repeatedly in the wake of Benoit), but hadn't thought of this as one of those times
-Randy Orton dressed him down after Raw after Kennedy planted him poorly with a back suplex onto Orton's bad shoulder (that was when Orton started punching the mat in a weird way)
-The wrist injury doesn't seem to be serious
-Kennedy has a reputation for being careless in the ring
-Kennedy talks way too much when he's been interviewed, especially when asked about steroids
-All told, though, they were surprised that this was the straw.

Wouldnt this be owned by WWE.

I dont think we will be seeing Kamikaze Ken Anderson anytime soon in TNA

Edit - unless of course, thats his real name.

Wikipedia says it is. Also, I think Anderson is the name he used when he showed up on TNA Xplosion years ago.

Huh, interestingly, his Wiki page claims (for what it's worth) that the news was broken on Jeremy Borash's Twitter. Here's what JB sys:

Heard Kennedy was released by WWE. Hell of a talent in my book. Hopefully he sticks with it and stays healthy.

And then:

Kennedy source you ask? Oh ye of little faith. Just remember where you heard it first. I'm 1/2 of the Tweet N' Tweak Connection damnit!

Is this the quickest trip from Main Event to Unemployment since the Marcus Alexander Bagwell experience?
Kennedy's career never was the same after winning MITB.
Considering the comments relayed by Meltzer and the roster purge of the past year, is the formerly injury prone youngster Randy Orton now a 'Locker Room Leader'?

Maybe, Or ....

1. Vince didn't like seeing his #1 heel almost re-injured by a sloppy guy just coming back himself

2. Orton bitched to HHH who bitched to Steph who bitched to Vince...

I called this one Monday night when Kennedy was holding his wrist for no reason right at the end of the show on the Raw thread.

Wow...he was the Big Surprise Main Eventer just five days ago, and the star of a Major Motion Direct-To-Video Picture produced by WWE. That's a lot of time and $$ put into Kennedy...KENNEDY! Pretty surprising he got cut just like that.

It was never the same after he was caught with Signature Pharmacy after adamantly denying on TV that he'd ever taken steroids. Although it's pretty amazing that it was almost exactly two years ago that he was about to get the world title from Undertaker but got (natch) injured.

In a way. Orton and Cena seem both really well-liked by the young wrestlers.

Meltzer has him as Ken Holmes (Anderson is his mother's name), but either way, if he used Ken Anderson on the indies then that's his, a la "Christian Cage."

I applaud the removal of a performer whose mic gimmick eclipsed his ring ability. I'm assuming his attitude/habits kept him out of announcer considerations.

I was never a fan of him and his high-visibility pushes were mystifying. I'm interested to see who if anyone moves up to take his place.

Apparently, Ted DiBiase is going to be pushed to be the next up-and-coming young singles star after his (supposed) face turn right before The Marine II comes out. I think a safer bet would be Morrison, who has a much bigger upside.

I am surprised on this one; Kennedy was one of the best mic people and up and coming wrestlers in the company. But I guess the WWE doesn't want to pay someone if they are going to keep getting injured.

I gotta disagree with this (but I'm a hardcore Kennedy hater so...) I think Kennedy's mic skills were incredibly overrated. Yes, he had a deep voice. But his promos were never interesting to me. He wasn't funny or clever and I can't recall anything he ever said that was notable or quotable, besides yelling his name. All he had was yelling his name twice, which was beaten to the ground at least two years ago. He was the "I Didn't Do It Boy." Just say your name and leave.

I mean, what exactly was his character? He was an average sized wrestler with bleached blond hair (and later stupid looking bleached blond facial hair), but what was he supposed to be? He wasn't cool, he wasn't threatening or menacing. I just don't get what people see when they look at this guy.

And his work in the ring was average at best; there have been quite a few backstage reports over the years of top guys like HBK and Orton dressing him down for being careless in the ring. To me, Kennedy was always an emperor with no clothes.

Sorry to bury the guy while he's down, but I'd be lying if I said I'm not sorry to see him go.

Not to make something out of nothing, but since when do they use gimmick names on WWE.com release notices? He's described as Ken Kennedy. Did he legally change his name or something?

I also thought Kennedy was extremely lame and a crappy worker.

Meltzer's wrong. It's Ken Anderson. Always has been. He just used "Kamikaze" before it on the indies (and yes, he himself created that backwards K-forwards K logo you saw on his WWE gear...he had that on his own gimmick T-shirts back in 2000.)

Sad day for us in ACW...but there's always the hope of a return home?

WHAT WORKED: AW man this is a show that really points out the weakness of the "what worked/what didn’t work" format. It’s a format that doesn’t allow for the “thumbs in the middle” response.
