The soldier is down.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=1890913

CLEVELAND -- Browns rookie tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. needs a second operation on his right leg and will miss the remainder of this season.

Winslow, who broke his fibula during a loss on Sept. 19 in Dallas and had it operated on last week, will have surgery Wednesday to stabilize ligaments.

Winslow, the No. 6 overall pick in this year's draft, was initially expected to be out for at least eight to 10 weeks but will now need longer to recover.

"It's the late '70s again, minus the coke (and, weirdly, minus the scoring)."

Chuck Klosterman on todays NBA, from the face-off column with Bill Simmons.

Apparently, the "chosen one" doesn't heal any faster than us mere mortals.

Of course, next year this means he'll have a purple heart pinned onto his jersey. :)

Will the Browns wear a special decal on their helmet for their "fallen soldier"?

Okay, cheap shot I know. Sorry.

The only kids that can do that are generally (at least, in theory) able to handle an increased scholastic workload so they can graduate early.
